Honorary Dame

Queen Elizabeth II awards Jolie with the title Honorary Dame, in recognition of Jolie’s work related to UK foreign policy, and her efforts to stop warzone sex crimes. One of hundreds  recognized in the Queen’s annual Birthday Honors list, Jolie will not be permitted to use the title “Dame” before her name because she is not a British citizen.

To receive an honor related to foreign policy means a great deal to me as it is what I wish to dedicate my working life to. Working on PSVI and with survivors of rape is an honor in itself. I know that succeeding in our goals will take a lifetime and I am dedicated to it for all of mine.
