Michael Jackson’s This Is It is documentary-concert film directed by Ortega. It documents Jackson’s rehearsals and preparation for the concert series, Michael Jackson’s This Is It. The series is cancelled June 25th due to Jackson’s death and it is the last film he starred in. Jackson’s family tried to stop the movie from being released. La Toya:

Hit and Run
In this comedy directed by Shepard and David Palmer, Shepard plays Charlie Bronson/Yul Perrkins, who is enrolled in the witness protection program. Charlie’s girlfriend needs to get to a job interview in Los Angeles, CA and he swears to get her there, along the way they have a series of problems. Costarring Kristen Bell, Bradley Cooper, and Tom Arnold.
I don’t think anyone gives a shit about how deeply personal the movie is to me. In general, humans are interested in f-cking, car jumps, and shit that makes us laugh.
Veronica Mars
This film adaptation of the mystery-comedy-drama series, directed by Rob Thomas, is based around a lawyer, Veronica Mars, who returns to her hometown to help a former classmate who is accused of murdering his girlfriend Carrie Bishop. Shepard plays an over-confident club boy. Costarring Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring.
The Judge
In this drama directed by David Dobkin, a lawyer, Hank Palmer (Robert Downey Jr.), who returns home for his mother’s funeral finds out his estranged father, Judge Joseph Palmer, is a suspected of murdering a man he sent to prison and was let out on parole. Hank now defends his father in court. Shepard plays C.P. Kennedy, a lawyer who helps represent the Judge. Costarring Robert Duvall, Vera Farmiga, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Billy Bob Thornten.
It just was if not the best script I’ve ever read, definitely in the top three, and I’ve been reading them now for 12 years pretty regularly. I just was so blown away with this script.
When In Rome
This romantic comedy directed by Mark Steven Johnson follows Beth, an a ambitious New Yorker who is unlucky in love. However, on a whirlwind trip to Rome, she impulsively steals some coins from a reputed fountain of love, and is then aggressively pursued by a band of suitors. Shepard plays Gale, self-absorbed suitor who falls under the spell of the coins and chases Beth. Costarring Kristen Bell, Josh Duhamel and Will Arnett.
I liked the challenge of having to get in that shape. I wanted to prove to myself that I can do that.
The Freebie
In this independent romantic drama by Katie Aselton, a married couple, frustrated by the lack of sex in their relationship, allow each other a one-night stand. Shepard plays Darren, the husband. Cos-tarring Aselton, Frankie Shaw and Sean Nelson.
Well, hm … for me, the thing that I was able to make sense of this. I was able to interpret this and make it seem real to me… I couldn’t relate necessarily to saying, “Oh alright, on this night, you get to do this and I get to do that,” but I could relate to that feeling of being the cool couple in the crowd, and I’m not talking about my public relationship or anything, but I’ve had the experience in my life where I felt like my girlfriend and I were the evolved couple, the one that was really adventurous and good communicators, and didn’t have a lot of hang-ups. For me, I look at what they did as more of a test to this theory they had about themselves. That they were very advanced and evolved and open-minded. That’s why they did what they did
Brother’s Justice
Shepard directs (with David Palmer) and writes this satirical mockumentary about Shepard’s transformation from comedian to a silver screen martial arts star. Costarring Ashton Kutcher, Tom Arnold, Bradley Cooper, David Koechner and Jon Favreau.
As your comedies come out, you quickly learn that no one sees them overseas. I don’t care about that, but when I became aware of it, this idea arose…I’m not big enough, like the Rock or someone like that is, to just lay people out. So I’d have to have some kind of finesse skills, like a martial art.

In this comedy directed by Michael McCullers, a successful, single businesswoman who dreams of having a baby discovers she is infertile and hires a working class woman to be her unlikely surrogate. Shepard plays Carl Loomis. Costarring Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Sigourney Weaver, Greg Kinnear, Romany Malco, and Steve Martin.
I had a great time. My first time in a movie with all women and I really enjoyed it.
Let’s Go To Prison
In this comedy directed by Bob Odenkirk, when a career criminal’s plan for revenge is thwarted by unlikely circumstances, he puts his intended victim’s son in his place by putting him in prison and then joining him. Shepard plays John. Costaring Will Arnett and Chi McBride.
We didn’t study prisoners that much. There’s not much you can do as an actor in this case, research wise. I mean, you can’t go to prison… I mean, you could go to prison, but I was not willing to go to prison for a comedy.
Zathura
In this fantasy adventure film directed by Jon Favreau, two young brothers are drawn into an intergalactic adventure when their house is hurled through the depths of space by the magical board game they are playing. Shepard plays Astronaut Walter. Costarring Josh Hutcherson, Jonah Bobo, Kristen Stewart, and Tim Robbins.
It was a blast. I got to rocket through the ceiling…
Without A Paddle
Directed by Steven Brill, this comedy is about three reunited childhood friends going on a trip up a remote river in order to search for the loot of a long-lost airplane hijacker. Shepard plays Tom Marshall. Costarring Seth Green, Matthew Lillard, Ethan Suplee, Abraham Benrubi, Rachel Blanchard, and Burt Reynolds.
Tons of stuff. He [Matthew Liiard] and Seth both really, y’know, took me under their wing, and showed—I mean I just, I didn’t have the technical knowledge that they had as far as, y’know, camera placement, what do you do in the, y’know, cross—there’s just tons of stuff I didn’t know, and they were both really patient, really. Lillard’s—one of his first pieces of advice was the truest he said, and that was, “Hey Dax, it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon.” ‘Cause I blew most of my wad during the camera tests to try out whether our outfits worked or not for the studio. I was like, at a hundred and ninety-eight percent for the first week and a half.
Idiocracy
Idiocracy is satirical science fiction comedy film directed by Mike Judge. It is about two people who take part in a top-secret military hibernation experiment, only to awaken 500 years later in a dystopian society wherein advertising, commercialism, and cultural anti-intellectualism have run rampant and dysgenic pressure has resulted in a uniformly unthinking society devoid of intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, and coherent notions of justice and human rights. Shepard plays Frito Pendejo. Co-stars are Luke Wilson, Maya Rudolph, and Terry Crews.
It initially was very heartbreaking, because I think the movie was worthy of a wide release. But I’ll tell you there’s this weird phenomenon happening with the movie, which I’m told is the same thing that happened with Office Space, which is, all the people that I respect, the kind of people’s opinions I value, are seeing the movie despite it trying to get killed. I couldn’t beg my good friends, fellow comedians, to go see Without a Paddle, but all these people who I love are going to see Idiocracy without me even telling them that it’s out. It’s kind of a neat phenomenon.
I try to approach making movies in a way that it’s about the making of them and not the result of them, if that makes sense. Regardless of what happens with Idiocracy, I still have three months in Austin Texas with Mike Judge, which were three of the best months of my life. So for me, on a life level, the result’s still he same. I had a wonderful time and it was really a unique experience and I got to work with someone I idolize, so that remains intact.
Employee of the Month
In this comedy film directed by Greg Coolidge, two employees who compete for the affection of their newest co-worker. Shepard plays Vince Downey, Super Club’s head cashier and the main antagonist. Co-stars are Dane Cook and Jessica Simpson.
The cast is, pound for pound, one of the funniest groups of people ever in a movie. Andy Dick is hysterical, Harland Williams is hysterical, Tim Bagley is unbelievable, Efren, my sidekick, Pedro from Napoleon’s great, Dane’s great. And a free for all of improv that all came together perfectly.
Confessions of an Action Star
In this mockumentary directed by Brad Martin, on the rise and fall of a Chipendale dancer turned martial arts action star, Shepard plays Bucky, an SFX Coordinator. Costarring David Leitch, Angelina Jolie, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving, and Eric Roberts.
Old Dogs
Walt Becker directs this comedy where two friends and business partners find their lives turned upside down when strange circumstances lead to them being placed in the care of seven-year-old twins. Shepard plays Gary, a child-proofer. Costarring Robin Williams, John Travolta, Seth Green, Kelly Preston, Bernie Mac, and Matt Dillion.
