Sopranos – Season Three
Sciorra plays Gloria Trillo, the love interest of Tony Soprano played by James Gandolfini, in Season Three of the HBO series. Initially meeting at their doctors office and later again at her job, where she works as a sales woman at a Mercedes dealership. The affair ends just as quickly as it begins with plenty of emotional breakdowns and threats. Co-starring Edie Falco, Lorraine Bracco and Michael Imperioli.
On an artistic level, working with James Gandolfini was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I’ll treasure that time forever. He was a deep and giving actor who made it safe enough for me to go out on a limb and delve into the depths of insanity, intimacy and violence right along with him without question or fear.
Friday Night Lights
Based on H.G. Bissingers best selling tale, Young plays Chris Commer, a football player for the Permian Panthers in a small town in Odessa, Texas. This drama is about a town’s obsession with their football team’s journey to fulfill their destiny and dreams during the 1988 season. Billy Bob Thornton plays Coach Gary Gaines. Co-starring Derek Luke and Lucas Black.
I had never played football before so they sent me the script and I was like, I don’t even know who I play. But that character is perfect for me in so many ways. He’s like third string and he comes in to play. You know, it’s my first movie so it’s kind of like getting the chance to do something great.
Rizzoli & Isles
Young plays Detective Barry Frost in this crime-drama television series directed by Mark Harber and based out of Boston. Angie Harmon plays his partner, Detective Jane Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander plays Dr. Maura Isles- the chief medical examiner.
It gets into the character’s story, family, what makes him tick. That I’m very excited about. My character is aware of history, the history of African-Americans in colonial Boston, Frost doesn’t really hold any grudges. At least I don’t play it that way.
Lee Thompson Young dies at 29
Young is found dead in his apartment by police, after missing a call on the production set and his manager, Jonathan Baruch, requested a welfare check.
It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning. Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed. We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends as this very difficult time.
Roberts, Moder marry
Roberts exchanges vows with her cameraman boyfriend Moder during a midnight ceremony at her ranch outside Taos. The bride wears pale pink cotton halter dress embroidered with pearls, antique beads and hand painted with flowers.
I hope that there are people who agree that I have done some good, kind things in my life, but to really, ultimately, stand fully in a moment of realizing that I was born to love and to be the wife of this man.
Wins Oscar
Roberts wins best actress for her role in Erin Brockovich.
Erin Brockovich
Roberts plays Erin Brockovich’s real life crusade against a power company- Pacific Gas and Electric. Her research uncovered the industrial poisoning of a city’s water supply which resulted in the largest settlement paid in a direct action lawsuit. Film is directed by Steven Soderbergh and cast members include David Brisbin, Albert Finney and Conchata Ferrell.
Erin is who she is and doesn’t change for anybody – which is what makes her such a remarkable individual. She can be in a situation where she’s completely out of place and have no awareness of that and just focus on what the issue is at hand.
Walk the Line
Phoenix plays country music singer legend Johnny Cash and focuses on the relationship he has with June Carter, played by Reese Witherspoon. The film is directed by James Mangold and co-stars Ginnifer Goodwin, Robert Patrick and Dallas Roberts.
He had such a rich, amazing life, but I mean, some of the obvious things, I remember reading in the script that he’s with Jerry Lee Lewis and he’s with Elvis, well that just sounds good for a movie, that’s just written in there. And then to discover that he really was touring with these guys, that was amazing to me. I had no idea. But I think also his love affair with June, that just seems fictional. It’s kind of a fairy tale romance and a love that kind of endured for more than a decade, was really surprising to me.
Raging Bull
DeNiro plays Jake La Motta, a middleweight boxer and portrays his violent journey through life. This biopic is directed by Martin Scorsese and co-stars Joe Pesci and Cathy Moriarty.
It was sent to me by Pete Savage who was very helpful in getting the whole thing started and very helpful in getting me trained with Jake and Jake was one of the associate producers and something about the story interested me.
Stage 4 cancer
Douglas announces on Letterman that he has stage four cancer. He was diagnosed three weeks prior and completed his first round of treatment.
It had been bothering me for a while. In the early summer, I had a really sore throat … and I actually went through a litany of doctors and tests and they didn’t find anything…The percentages are very good. I would hate to say, but right now, it looks like it should be 80 percent, and with certain hospitals and everything, it does improve.
Wins Emmy
Douglas wins an Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a miniseries or movie for his portrayal of Liberace in Behind the Candelabra. He also shows appreciation to his co star Matt Damon.
This is a two hander. And Matt, you’re only as good as your other hand. You’re magnificent, and the only reason I’m standing here is because of you. You really deserve half of this. So … you want the bottom or the top?
Behind the Candelabra
Douglas plays pianist Liberace in this biopic that reflects on his relationship with Scott Thorson, played by Matt Damon. This HBO movie is directed by Steven Soderbergh.
I met him once in passing. My father had a weekend house in Palm Springs and I remember driving out and we came to this cross-section and this Rolls-Royce convertible pulled up alongside. It was a sunny day and, my God, the reflections were bouncing off his gold jewelry and diamond rings and his hair was perfectly coiffed. Of course, we now know that he was wearing a wig.
Miles Ahead moves ahead
Cheadle will direct and star in the film Miles Ahead, which is based on the life and journey of jazz musician Miles Davis.
The project first had traction in 2008 when Miles was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and his nephew told reporters that I was going to be playing him in the movie, which was the first I’d heard of it. People started calling to try and put the movie together because the family had given their blessing for me to be in it.
Capital One spokesperson
Jackson is the newest spokesman for Capital One, promoting the new cash back card, dubbed Quicksilver. Other celebrities that promote the card products are Alex Baldwin and Jimmy Fallon.
It’s the no games, no messing around, no earning-limit-having do-I-look-like-I’m-joking heavyweight champion of the world.
Clear History
David plays Nathan Floom, who loses his job in the marketing department at an electric car start-up company. He later moves to Martha’s Vineyard and takes on another identity as Rolly DaVore and seeks revenge on his former boss. Kate Hudson, Jon Hamm, Liev Schreiber and Michael Keaton also join him in this comedy drama. David mentioned that the actors came up with their own dialog.
Ninety percent of actors love to improvise. Everybody just took to it so easily.
Blacklist
Blacklist announces via their twitter account that Parker will be joining the TV drama series for Season 2. The show features a fugitive, Raymond “Red” Reddington, who joins forces with the US government to take down other dangerous criminals and terrorists.

Golden Globe
Cheadle who plays Marty Kaan in the television show House of Lies, wins the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. Fellow nominees were Jim Parsons, Alec Baldwin, Matt LeBlanc and Louis C.K. Cheadle says that media attention to white collar crime helps give context to the show.
And it sort of gives an understanding of the people that we’re dealing with and who my Pod is trying to go in to defeat.
Golden Globe
Parker wins award for Best Actress in a TV Series Comedy or Musical. The other nominees were Marica Cross, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman and Eva Longoria each from the show Desperate Housewives.
I didn’t have a speech or anything, I thought Felicity was going to win, so I was really surprised. Teri Hatcher was so sweet to me. I voted for you for the other award. We were all desperate housewives, mine was just a little more desperate than they were.
Alexander Pete Schreiber born
Schreiber and Watts announce the birth of their first son named Alexander Pete. Alexander Pete weighs 8 lbs., 4 oz., and is 22.5 inches long. Schreiber said that he would not call his son Liev:
