0 CommentsShelton releases the country single from his album, Blake Shelton’s Barn & Grill. Blake admits he was hooked on the song by the “flippin’ the bird” line:
That happens to all of us every single time we get in our car. I can’t remember a time I haven’t thought, ‘Aw! You idiot!’ You know? Usually five or six times a day when you’re drivin’. And the reality of it is, somebody’s sayin’ that to you every day, too. You just don’t know it.,,So, everybody is the guilty person, but it just doesn’t seem that way when it’s you!

Shelton releases the single, Don’t Make Me, from his album, Pure B.S.
Don’t Make Me was one of those things that when everyone heard it, it was unanimous that it was a special song and kind of a new sound for me. It’s about a guy who is going through a lot of struggles and is not sure how to handle it. That’s been me in the last year and a half. I’ve been kind of up in down in my personal life and a lot of that reflects in this song and the rest of the album.

Recalls early days
In an interview with CMT, Shelton recalls his early days in Nashville, Tennessee and shares his thoughts about his past singles, Ol’ Red and Austin.
Shelton on his first days in Nashville:
When I first hit town, there wasn’t much going on in my daily routine. I had about a two-week job there working for Mae Boren Axton, painting her house. Axton, the mother of singer-songwriter Hoyt Axton, wrote Elvis Presley‘s Heartbreak Hotel. Eventually I got a job working at a publishing company, Balmur Music, which was a company that Anne Murray was a co-owner in, as a tape copy guy. Eventually I got fired from that job. You know, after being fired and not being able to keep a job through the years … there’s no telling how many jobs I went through — four or five. At that point, I had worked my way into the community enough that I started singing a lot of demos and eventually got hired as a staff writer at Sony Tree Publishing. But my days were a country song. I would wake up in the morning, hung over from the night before, especially at that age. I’d try to write a song and do it all over again that night.
Shelton on his earlier songs:
Ol’ Red is so unique, and it’s definitely stood the test of time. It’s not anywhere close to being one of my biggest radio hits.
Austin was one of those songs that nobody would give a chance because it didn’t come from well-known writers or well-known publishers. Luckily for me, I wasn’t a well-known artist at the time. So you just never know.
Shelton, Lambert engaged
Shelton and Lambert get engaged after 5 years together. The setting for the proposal is distinctly down-home, in the woods near Lambert’s Tishomingo, Oklahoma home.
He called my dad and got his blessing first. That was so Southern and old-school and perfect.
Draggin’ the River performance
Shelton sings Draggin’ the River with Lambert.
It won’t be released to radio. What sucks is that she and I would love for it to be released to radio. We’ve even talked about even doing a video for it.
Hillbilly Bone

Shelton, Lambert marry
Shelton and Lambert tie the knot at the Don Strange Ranch in Lambert’s home state of Texas, with 550 guests in attendance. Lambert wears her mother’s wedding dress for the ceremony. She recalls the moment Shelton popped the question:
He did a really good job. He’s always nervous around me, though — and that’s how I like it!
Shelton:
I wanted to be married to Miranda the day I proposed. Finally, it’s official!
God Gave Me You
Shelton releases his second single from his album, Red River Blue. The song was originally written and recorded by Christian rocker, Dave Barnes. Shelton tells how he felt after hearing the original on the radio:
For whatever reason I was flipping through stations and landed on a contemporary Christian station, and that song came on and I almost had to pull the truck over. It was one of those moments for me where I felt like I was hearing that song at that moment for a reason.
Blake Shelton interview
Seacrest interviews Shelton during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about the film Footloose.
No matter what pre-conceived thoughts you have about “Footloose,” I can tell you it is worth it. Just to see the smokin’ hot Julianne Hough. Just ask Ryan.
Over You
Lambert releases the video for the song that she co-wrote with her husband Blake Shelton. The song is about the loss of Shelton’s brother who was killed in a car accident when he was a teenager. Shelton explains what brought the couple to write the single:
Because we were talking about my brother. And that’s how those things should happen, probably. It was really a way of healing, and honoring my brother’s memory. And the fact that people were into the song … that’s a thrill for me.
JCP Cares embassador
0 CommentsShelton teams up with JC Penney to support servicemen and women. After honoring troops at a sold out show in Watertown, New York on July 6, he announces his partnership with JCP Cares. Shelton will continue to support the charity throughout the year, serving as their ambassador.
Supporting the USO is second nature to me. My dad was a Korean War veteran. My brother was a veteran of the Army. It’s a charity that’s near and dear to my heart.
