Beating Bob Backlund after nobody beat him for six years was the greatest moment of my career. Bob told me, I only want to lose to you Sheikie baby, because you are the real deal and you are the hottest thing in wrestling. I love him forever for that and he respected the legend.

I think it is going to be one of the most exciting nights of my life; I’m really looking forward to getting back into Madison Square Garden. I have made 72 appearances at Madison Square Garden, every one of them was an experience that I’ll never forget and I think this is going to be the climax of all those appearances.

Snuka gives his thoughts on his rivalry with Backlund:
I’m not a glory guy or anything like that but it was such a great pleasure for me to wrestle Bob Backlund the champion at the time. He was such an awesome guy and such a great champion and it was such a privilege to be able to wrestle him so early on in my WWF career in a title match at Madison Square Garden. Jumping off the cage at the Garden you couldn’t even hear yourself, I loved it so much, things like that just stick in your heart.
