Miami Herald interview

Interview0 Comments

Booker T talks to the Miami Herald about his winding down career and independent wrestling.

I don’t want to be one of those wrestlers that wishes to put their boots on when I’m 60. I don’t want to look at any of my old outfits then. My wife wants me to keep all my old outfits. I want to sell them all. I want to put them on eBay. You think I’m going to be 70 years old with all these action figures and outfits looking back at Harlem Heat’s glory days. It’s really for my grandkids. It’s been great. I’ve had the greatest life the last almost 25 years than any man could ask for. It’s a dream. I wouldn’t trade it in for the world. I always wanted to do the work and make it to the other side. That’s where I’m at in my life. It’s a great place.

WWE.com interview

Booker talks to WWE.com about a prank once pulled by Brian Knobbs as part of the site’s Superstar’s greatest pranks series.

I remember we were on tour in Germany and Knobbs had been pranking everybody on the plane flying over. We were friends, I didn’t think he would get me. I also always dressed really nice, and that day I had a nice jacket on with a sweater vest and a shirt with some nice slacks. Anyway, I fell asleep, and when I woke up I had two pieces of cheese inside of my vest that he had stuffed in there, and they had made big round spots on my shirt. You can’t get that out. I realized all of my fingernails were painted red and I had whipped cream stacked up on top of my head like yay high. The road agent was sitting right behind me on the plane. I look behind at him and I go, “Man, you need to take care of this. This needs to stop” He looks at me, shows me all of his fingers, and all of his fingers were painted red also.

NST.com interview

Booker T talks to NST.com about possibly returning to the ring and working the Royal Rumble match.

I wouldn’t call it a comeback (laughs). I’m semi-retired and to work around these schedules that the younger wrestlers and the divas (applies to the female talent, whether as wrestlers, managers or ring announcers) is rough. It’s a young man’s sport. I don’t want to be one of those wrestlers who still holds on to the past, hearing all the roars from the crowd.

Booker T discusses winning the WWE King of the Ring tournament and becoming King Booker:

I was like, I’m going to act like a king if I become King Booker. I thought about it and I studied the Pope, the King of Scotland just as far as people to watch. I just took on a different persona that people could remember forever more. With everybody that won the King of the Ring, they’re not going to think about them first, they’re going to think about King Booker. Then, they’re going to think about who (else) won the King of the Ring.

Monday Night Mayhem interview

Booker T discusses Wrestlemania and the WWE Hall of Fame with Monday Night Mayhem.

WrestleMania always starts the day after the previous WrestleMania. The build-up has been no different as far as the promotion goes, and you have to notice that. The fans are going to show up and it is going to be a great night of wrestling and a great night of entertainment.

Booker T speaks to WWE.com about WCW’s Halloween Havoc and his own memories of the event.

When I was just a small fry, I looked at Havoc as an opportunity to be a fly on the wall, watch everything that transpired on such a big stage and see what made Superstars. It was like on the job training.

Booker T talks about the last episode of WCW Monday Nitro:

It was a bitter-sweet night, I knew something that I had been apart of for so long was coming to an end and there was no way we could recreate that all over again, I knew that part of my life was going to change but on the other hand I was pretty excited because WWE had bought the company, Vince McMahon had taken over and I knew it was time for me to step up and that is exactly what I did. I always thought I was upper echelon talent and I would get a chance to prove it in WWE and I think I did that and I think I did it very well, but I was ready for the challenge.
