Mark Frauenfelder is an American journalist, blogger, author, illustrator, and maker. He started the independent ‘zine bOING bOING in the 1980s with his wife, Carla Sinclair. The ‘zine became a website in the 1990s and then became the Boing Boing blog, one of the most popular blogs on the internet. Frauenfelder is notable for playing a role in the development of cyberpunk culture in the 1980s and 90s, and worked with Billy Idol on the Cyberpunk album. Frauenfelder and Sinclair lived on the Cook Islands island of Rarotonga in 2003 with their two daughters, and created the magazines Make: and Craft:. Frauenfelder has published several books about computers, unusual people, places, and things, and pop-science projects for parents and children. He is considered influential by makers in the do-it-yourself scene.
