Hall of Fame performance
Nirvana performs at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center fronted by four female stand-in performers: Joan Jett, Kim Gordon, St. Vincent and Lorde. Courtney Love explained the situation publicly, saying:
Initially, I thought it was sexist, and a little bit ghettoising. But then I was like, ‘No, Kurt would have loved this.’ And there’s reality to it. Apparently, no high-profile dudes wanted to do it. It’s interesting, isn’t it? […] It was the punkest thing the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame has ever seen. I was really proud of that.
Previously, Dave Grohl revealed that a number of male rockers rejected the performance. Grohl believes it was because of the “weight of the situation.”
