A California judge’s preliminary ruling says Sterling’s estranged wife, Shelly, has the authority to reach an agreement with former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for the sale of the franchise. If the deal goes through, the team will be sold to Ballmer for $2 million dollars. Mike Bass, the NBA executive vice president of communications in a statement from the league:
We are pleased that the court has affirmed Shelly Sterling’s right to sell the Los Angeles Clippers to Steve Ballmer. We look forward to the transaction closing as soon as possible.
