Hyperloop deal

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies signs a deal with the developers of Quay Valley in central California to construct a five mile Hyperloop line in an area along Interstate 5 at a cost of over $100 million. Dirk Ahlborn, CEO of the JumpStartFund, which created Hyperloop Transportation Technologies:

This is big step. It’s time to take the Hyperloop from concept and design and build the first one. This is a phased process. We’ve done feasibility studies and now we will be able test all aspects of the Hyperloop.

Brady signs a, salary-cap-friendly, $27 million three year extension designed to help the Patriots put together another championship run. The $43.6 million Brady would be owed over the next two years benefits the Patriots, giving flexibility within the cap.

CBS renews Sheindlin’s contract through 2020. The contract includes a production deal with Sheindlin’s company.

Manning agrees to a new $15 million contract with the Broncos which cuts his salary by $4 million. The contract also requires Manning to pass a physical.

I don’t talk about my contract. I never have in 18 years and I’m not going to start now. I’ve been working real hard and I’m excited to be back with the Denver Broncos. Can’t wait for April 13 to get here when the team can finally come together. I’m excited to get to work and get to know the new coaches and looking forward to trying to make 2015 a special year.

Lesnar announces on SportsCenter that he has re-signed with the WWE and that he has retired from the MMA.

I’m officially closing the door on MMA. It was a very hard decision at this stage of my career. The fighter inside me wants to compete. The father and husband — I’m an older caveman now. I make wiser caveman decisions. So, I’m here to say my legacy in the Octagon is over.

It was a hard decision to make. It took me a year. I’ve thought about this for a year. At the end of the day, it’s all about me wanting to have fun. The last two-and-a-half months I’ve been training to get back into the Octagon. I felt physically great, but something lacked mentally — and that’s not good.

Reaches deal with creditors

Greece reaches a preliminary bailout agreement with its European creditors. The terms of the agreement include sales tax increases, reforms to pensions, and making the labor market more flexible. The country will have to open up competition to industries that have long been protected, such as the energy sector. These and other terms of the agreement will have to be passed into law by Wednesday as a first step to receive 85 billion euros in bailout loans.

Signs new 6-fight deal with the UFC

White announces that McGregor has signed a new six-fight deal with the UFC. The deal will also position McGregor’s new liquor brand, Proper Whiskey, as a sponsor in every UFC event in which the latter competes. Terms were not disclosed, but White says the deal could make McGregor the most money in the sport, especially given his pay-per-view appeal. The six fights include the matchup with Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 on Oct. 6. When asked if the logo of his product will have a presence in the Octagon, McGregor responded:
