Longhorn Bandit suspect dies
The man suspected to be the Longhorn Bandit, shoots an FBI agent then shoots and kills himself during the routine service of an arrest warrant. The agent is expected to recover and no others are injured according to reports. FBI Spokesperson:
Officers were looking for a suspected bank robber dubbed the “Longhorn Bandit.” The name came from video showing the man wearing a Texas Longhorns baseball cap during the robberies. . . The suspect fired two shots at law enforcement agents, who did not fire back. He then shot himself in the room.
Drone kills Al Qaeda leader
Al Qaeda announces the death of one of their senior leaders along with other operatives by drone strike. A U.S. based security firm confirms this statement.
A senior al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula leader who claimed the group’s responsibility for the Charlie Hebdo massacre and the murder of an American hostage during a botched raid in December has been killed in a U.S. drone strike in Yemen.
Errol Brown dies age 71
Brown dies at his home in the Bahamas. His manager says he had been suffering from liver cancer. He is survived by his wife Ginette and two daughters, Leonie and Colette.
David Goldberg dies age 47
Goldberg leaves his room at about 4 p.m. to exercise. After he fails to return, family members go look for him and find him around 6:30 p.m. in one of the resort’s gymnasiums, lying by a treadmill in a pool of blood, with a blow to the lower back of his head. He apparently had slipped on the treadmill and hit the machine. Goldberg still has vital signs when he was discovered, but later dies at a hospital in Nuevo Vallarta. The cause of death is severe head trauma and bleeding.

Earthquake Death Toll Reaches 4,000
The death count in the the Nepal earthquake has risen to 4,010 reported dead and 7,598 reported injured, however the Nepalese government speculates that the death toll may rise to over 10,000 dead over the coming days. Areas near Kathmandu are starting to return to a state of near normality with a return of some basic infrastructure but many rural areas are still cut off from basic necessities such as water, shelter and power. Prime Minister Sushil Koirala says that despite the influx of aid,
getting help to some of the worst affected areas is a major challenge.

Dan Fredingburg dies in avalanche
Fredinburg dies from head injuries after being hit by an avalanche. Other climbers with him are being treated at the Everest base camp. Google lawyer:
Dan Fredinburg, a long-time member of the Privacy organization in Mountain View, was in Nepal with three other Googlers, hiking Mount Everest. He has passed away. The other three Googlers with him are safe and we are working to get them home quickly. Google’s Crisis Response team has launched Person Finder for Nepal, and is working to get updated satellite imagery to aid in the recovery effort.
