Out Among the Stars
Cash’s, “lost” album, Out Among the Stars is released. The songs were discovered by the label and Cash’s son, John Carter Cash, in 2012. Some of the songs include duets with Waylon Jennings and June Carter Cash. The material was recorded at Nashville’s Columbia Studios in 1981 and 1111 Sound Studios in 1984. John Carter:
Columbia Records had lost interest in Johnny Cash at the time, they didn’t know what to do with him. When I listened to these tracks, it showed the lack of sincere interest that was there – some of these tracks didn’t have guitar solos.
Play It Again
The artist releases his single, Play It Again, from his album, Crash My Party.
From the day we put Crash My Party out, Play It Again was getting downloaded more than any non-single, and when we play it live on the road, it goes over bigger than most of my prior #1s,” he said. “It’s a fun little story. It’s a great song, because it does have a story about a relationship, but I think the reaction that the girl has – ‘Oh my God, this is my song’ – that’s such a real reaction and that’s what makes the song work.
If I Could Change Your Mind
Haim releases their fifth single If I Could Change Your Mind. The single is on their record Days Are Gone and is a collaboration with writer and producer James Ford. Alana and Danielle :
It started out as a jam. We were in the studio with James Ford and we were really deeply into the recording and the vibe for the record and we were kind of burnt out and we were just like “let’s write something new.”
Sirens
Lloyd releases second single off her upcoming album. The single titled Sirens is a ballad and Lloyd says it is very different from her previous singles.
It exposes me. I feel like it shows the exact artist that I am. I’ve waited so long for a song like this. It gives me a massive opportunity to show people that I can sing. I’m not used to singing ballads; it’s what I did in the beginning. So it’s nice to bring that back. And it’s nice to have a song with a lot of meaning as opposed to previous singles where it’s all been a bit bubblegum and kind of childish. Now I’m trying to be a lot more grown up and show the softer side of me.

Shelton releases the video for his single Doin’ What She Likes. The video begins with a phone conversation with his wife, offering to make her dinner:

When the candle he lights catches the curtains on fire, and the house quickly goes up in flames. Shelton opts to offer to take her out for dinner instead of telling her about the disaster:
Get Your Shine On
The band releases the music video for their latest song. Brian and Tyler with their co-writers, Rodney Clawson and Chris Tompkins, talk about the song. Tyler notes:
It’s a cool anthem and we fell in love with it the first time we heard it.
Rodney recalls that Tyler had the idea for the song. He then says:
It’s just a cool visual line. Does it mean you’re drinking moonshine? Does it mean you’re just having a good time? We tried to incorporate all those different elements into the song.
Achy Breaky Heart 2
Buck 22 releases the single, Achy Breaky Heart 2, featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. Buck:
I asked Billy Ray Cyrus if he would mind if I could take a crack at remaking Achy Breaky Heart and he looked at me for a moment, and said ‘lots of people have tried already, but go for it.’ He didn’t have a clue that I had already gone into the lab and cooked up a demo of what I thought would be a fun EDM/hip-hop styled version, which at the time only had a sample from the original of his voice. He liked what he heard and, weeks later, arrived at the session to record this track.
Like Toy Soldiers
The artist releases his single, Like Toy Soldiers, from the album, Encore. The song is about feuds in the rap community. It is common practice for rappers to sling insults at each other in their songs, and this often leads to violence. Eminem compares the rappers to toy soldiers, who are being controlled by someone else, which in many cases is a record company that sells albums and profits from the controversy.

Rewind
The band releases, Rewind, from their album with the the same name. LeVox:
I wish we could rewind remembering some of the special moments ’cause it went by so fast. If we could rewind and maybe slow it down a little bit so that we could have enjoyed some of the moments that flew past us. I would rewind that.
Wild Heart
The Vamps release their second single Wild Heart. The single was a collaboration between all four band members. James McVey:
We really enjoyed making (their previous single) Can We Dance, but with Wild Heart we kind of experimented more with musical genre in the sense that we added a banjo and mandolin. We like to try and push ourselves into directions to try new things really and we’ve gone for more of a folky vibe so we hope people like it. We like to think it’s a feel good song I guess.

The band releases their single, Show’ Em (What You’re Made Of) from their album, In a World Like This. McLean and Richardson wrote the song for their children:
Kevin was like, ‘Why don’t we write something that’s about our kids or is a positive reinforcement-type song because there is so much negativity out there and bullying and all this crap that’s been going on? The world needs positivity. Not only was it my daughter and his son, but it was all of our kids that were influenced and even other people’s kids and just fathers, mothers, people that are the kind of people that encourage you to go out and to show ’em what you’re made of, give it your all and the song turned out beyond what I ever expected it to be. It became this huge emotional record.
