On The TV single release

The band releases On The TV, from Build A Tower, as a single. Aaron:

On The TV is a song about feeling a sense of discomfort, disassociation and extreme anxiety at the state of the modern world. It’s a scream against everything from caged kids at the Mexican border to the rise of nationalism in the UK and US. In the verses I seek solace in family and ask my parents for guidance. It also has a great riff.

You Opened Up My Heart

The band release You Opened Up My Heart, from the album, Build A Tower.

A lot of our songs are existential and angst-ridden but, in an age where we’re faced with stuff like Trump and Brexit, and people are becoming more polarised, it felt right to offer something with a more positive message. It’s an electro-indie love-song, basically, with great hooks. The lyrics ‘Believe enough to lose control/Where there’s love there’s always hope’ are about a basic belief that humanity and compassion will win the day.

Lunatic

The band releases Lunatic, the first single from their upcoming third album. The track was produced by Bullyment. Aaron Starkie:

It’s about feeling at odds with the world, especially politically in recent times, to the point where you feel as though you are losing your mind. There’s also reference to how psychiatry has been used to remove political dissidents from society: ‘Hard to find a fit, for I know that I’m a lunatic, Sure in days of old, I’d be chained to the floor’.

‘There’s Only One Conor McGregor’ released as charity single

Mick Konstantin releases There’s Only One Conor McGregor, with proceeds to go to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. The track is available for download on iTunes here.

It’s all been a bit crazy really. I really love creating music people enjoy, I could never have dreamt that the song would have reached the heights it has. I couldn’t believe it. McGregor’s team rang me the following day and told me McGregor loved the song. That was amazing that he heard the song and liked it, but McGregor and his team asked if I’d like to go to the fight. It was a dream come true…The support I’ve received for this song has been immense, and I’m going to have the trip of a lifetime to see McGregor in action in Vegas. I felt I had to give something back. I have decided to donate all iTunes sales of There’s Only One Conor McGregor, until the fight to a charity Conor supports. The proceeds of the sales will go to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. “I’d love to see the hospital benefit from this and see the proceeds going to a good cause.

Adventure of a Lifetime audio release

Makes Statement0 Comments

Coldplay release the audio for Adventure of a Lifetime, from their album, A Head Full of Dreams. The band says they have collaborated with Tove Lo, Noel Gallagher and Beyonce on the album, which will contain 12 songs, including a hidden track, X Marks The Spot. Parlophone:

Revitalized, they’ve made an album that’s bursting with energy, colour and big, life-affirming moments such as the deliciously ebullient first single Adventure of a Lifetime and the rocket-powered Hymn for the Weekend. Coldplay has never enjoyed making a record more than this one. Nor have they been happier with the results.

Wild Things

Cara releases her single Wild Things. The single is featured on her debut studio album Know-It-All.

Wild Things is an anthem. It’s written like an anthem, the production is very anthem-like, and the lyrics are very anthem-like, and I wanted it to be like that. I wanted it to be something that people could really sing along to and believe in, because it’s such an important message, and it’s really about accepting yourself. Whether you’re young, or old, or whatever your circumstances are. Oftentimes, people constantly tell us that we are not good enough for that, and we’re not going to do anything with ourselves. And that’s not true obviously, and this is a song about saying, I don’t care what you say, and I don’t care what you do to try to stop me from being happy. I’m going to be happy, and we’re gonna just do whatever we want.

Wake Up

Wake Up Single Cover ArtThe Vamps release their single Wake Up. This track is featured on their album with the same title. The song is a collaboration between The Vamps and producer Steve Mac.

Wake Up is the first song off our second album. And, it’s the first song we ever did for the second album. That’s kinda how we got the whole sound of the next album. It’s about being there for a girl, and supporting through hard times. And, then wanting to kinda see the gratification for it, and just wanting to be appreciated. Not in a weird way. Just knowing that you are there for them, sort of thing. It kinda links in well because we haven’t released music for about a year. So, it’s kinda like Wake Up is probably a good statement for us to be back and releasing music.

Clearest Blue

Chvrches release the track Clearest Blue, the third single off their second studio album Every Open Eye. Doherty:

Clearest Blue was the 17th song we wrote, and it sort of informed the rest of the production. To me it came to define how the rest sounds. How is that? Well, it’s big and happy and sad and a banger.

Same Old Love

Gomez releases her single Same Old Love, the second single from her album Revival. Same Old Love is a writing collaboration between Gomez, Tor Hermann, Mikkel Eriksen, Benjamin Levin, Charlotte Aitchison and Ross Golan.

I think Same Old Love represents a different kind of identity with love. The first people you love in your life are your parents. So for me, my dad is the first male figure I had in my life. And how much it means to respect your parents and have a healthy relationship with them because it trails on into your relationships when you’re older.

I’m Yours

Cara releases her single I’m Yours. This track is featured on her EP Four Pink Walls and her debut album Know-It-All.

I’m Yours is a humorous/sassy/layered song. And it’s about being reluctant to fall for somebody, because you’re so happy with yourself initially, and things are fine, and then somebody comes along, and they’re so perfect, and you just hate it. You hate everything about them, and they gross you out even though they’re so nice, and they’re perfect, but you hate them. You realize as the song goes on that the reason why you’re like this, and the reason why you feel like this, is because you’ve been hurt before, and you don’t even want to bother letting anyone else in. But then because this person is so nice to you, you finally at the (end), are like, Fine, I’ll let them in.

Never Ending Circles

Chvrches release Never Ending Circles, the second single from their album Every Open Eye. Mayberry:

When I look back at the first record, the songs I wrote about relationships on there were a bit more playing the victim kind of. I think there was a time and a place for that because that was what I was feeling at the time, but I guess now I feel a lot more positive about my personal life and I think it’s nice for me to be able to write about that as well as my bad experiences in a more assertive way.

Charged Up

Drake releases Charged Up, a diss track aimed at Meek Mill. The track is in response to Mill’s recent comments, which accused Drake of using a ghostwriter for his songs. The song mostly consists of Drake freestyling over a subdued beat. While the song doesn’t address Mill by name, it is undoubtedly aimed at him:

Wow, I’m honored that you think this is staged / I’m flattered man, in fact I’m amazed / The perfect start to the summer man, this shit is a doozy / This sh*t is twistin’ the movie, but don’t jump to any conclusions / You boys aren’t getting’ any of your feelins on me / You should embrace it this could be one of our realest moments / OK, the flow’s startin’ to feel familiar, don’t it? / Must I remind you that Jimmy got twenty million on it.

Leave A Trace

Chvrches releases Leave a Trace, the first single from their second album Every Open Eye. Mayberry:

Leave a Trace is the middle finger mic-drop. It’s about that point where you’re like, There’s no point having this conversation anyways: There will be no resolve, I won’t feel better about it, you won’t feel better about it, no outcome from this will actually change my reality.

CHVRCHES - Leave A Trace (Lyric Video)
