Yamaha sends five riders to VR46 Academy

Yamaha Racing sends five riders to train with Rossi, at his VR46 Academy, in Tavullia from July 4th – 8th. The first intake of riders, for ‘The Master Camp’, will be: Peerapong Loiboonpeng (21, Thailand), Galang Hendra Pratama (17, Indonesia), Soichiro Minamimoto (16, Japan), Kasma Daniel Bin Kasmayudin (16, Malaysia) and Imanuel Putra Pratna (19, Indonesia). The five were chosen based on their current AP250 class points standings, age and other factors. The riders will learn dirt track riding at Rossi’s Motor Ranch, plus track riding at the nearby Misano circuit. Rossi:

Only a few months ago the partnership between Yamaha and VR46 began and it brought the guys of the Academy some fantastic bikes for their training, on track and at the Ranch. This was already a great step towards helping young talent, but today I am even happier when thinking about the start of the first edition of ‘The Master Camp’, which is only a few weeks away…They will spend an entire week with us, train with us, following the same programme every day, on track and at the gym. It won’t be easy for them, but I’m sure we’ll have fun! It will be a beautiful and busy week!

Extends Honda contract

Marquez signs a two-year contract extension with Honda Racing.

I’m very happy to announce this renewal with HRC, especially coinciding with Grand Prix of Catalunya, my home GP, where I have some really good memories. HRC and I have a very strong relationship, and I’ve always wanted to continue being a part of the Repsol Honda Team. In three and a half years together, we’ve enjoyed some unbelievable moments, with great victories and two world titles, as well as a few challenging moments that I believe are making us stronger. We’re working very hard this year to regain the title. It’s a great honour to be a part of the Honda family, and I’m glad to remain with this special group of people for another two seasons.

HRC’s Nakamoto:

We’re honoured to have reached an agreement with Marc for two more years. There’s no doubt that he is the present and future of MotoGP! We know him well and he knows us well, and we both wanted to continue together; for this reason, we felt no rush for this renewal. Marc has grown a lot during almost four years with HRC, and now he’s an even more complete rider than in 2014, when he won 10 races in a row. Although he’s still very young, we already have a long relationship together, and we know that Marc’s experience is very important for helping our engineers to develop our bike.

Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. announces that its partnership with Jorge Lorenzo will be discontinued at the close of the 2016 MotoGP season, when Lorenzo will move on to new racing challenges. Since Lorenzo joined the Yamaha Factory Racing Team in 2008, Lorenzo and Yamaha won three MotoGP World Championships (2010, 2012 and 2015), clinched 41 race wins and have been on the podium 99 times out of 141 races contested. Yamaha is extremely grateful for Jorge’s contributions to its racing successes and looks forward to sharing more memorable moments during the remaining 15 MotoGP rounds of 2016, their ninth season together.

Takes six wickets on debut

Rabada’s figures of six wickets for 16 runs are the best by any bowler on his one day international debut and the best by a South African bowler in any one day international. He is only the second bowler to take a hat trick in his debut match and the third South African overall to take a hat trick.

It is great to do well for your team and put them in a position to win the game. The hat trick ball … I didn’t know where to bowl. I was thinking bouncer or just a normal good length ball, but then I just went yorker. I missed it by miles. It was a bit of fluke but I will take it.

Joins Charlotte Hornets

Lin announces he will sign with the Charlotte Hornets on a two year, $4.3M deal. He’s the latest offseason addition as GM Cho looks to upgrade the team’s offense:

We were looking to get more depth in the backcourt and we feel really good about the signing. He’s going to bring some energy to our backcourt and our second unit. He will be a great addition.

Lin is expected to serve as back up to Kemba Walker and run the second team offense:

The one thing he can really do is get into the paint and with our second unit that is important because he can create shots for others. We have several guys on the second unit that will benefit from that whether it’s Jeremy Lamb or Spencer Hawes, Frank Kaminsky or Marvin Williams.

Sign player out of desperation

With eight players on their injured list and without eight healthy players that could play, the Timberwolves sign Kilpatrick to a 10-day contract just hours before their game against the Knicks. After learning he was signed, Kilpatrick quickly gathered his belongings and drove from Delaware to New York, arriving at the Timberwolves’ locker room in Madison Square Garden about 45 minutes before the start of the game. T-Wolves coach Flip Saunders:

We had to fulfill our rules, so we had to go find somebody that was within a train ride away…We had him in before so we worked him out, so we knew about him and we’ve been following him, but there’s no question that geography helped. We had to have a guy here ready to play at 7:30.

I was just getting ready. We had practice today to get ready to play one of the other D-League teams. I didn’t think I was going to end up here. It’s kind of a blessing.

Signs three-year deal

The Browns sign Williams to a three-year deal. Financial terms are not disclosed. Williams joins a Browns secondary that had three of its members named to the 2015 Pro Bowl.

It’s going to be awesome. I’ll be glad to join those guys and help those guys with whatever they need. I see where these guys are going and I think I can help them go to where they want to go. They had a great defense last year with a lot of young guys on the team. I’m a veteran guy and I hope I can take them to another level.

Signs two-year deal

The Panthers sign Coleman to a two-year contract worth $2.8 million with a $600,000 signing bonus. Coleman:

Being familiar with Sean and watching this defense, I wanted to be able to help this team build into something special and make a run. They’ve done great the last two years getting into the playoffs, but the great thing is they’re not satisfied with just getting there. I want to be a piece to help this team go and be something special.

Kurt gives us a versatile safety who can play both spots. He’s athletic, he’s intelligent, and will understand the system, having worked with Sean before…He’s a very consistent player and also adds special-teams ability. That is something we’ve talked about improving upon and we’ve made some moves this offseason looking for guys that can help us on special teams.

Signs four-year deal

The Redskins sign Culliver to a four-year, $32 million deal. Culliver’s coverage grade for the 2014 season ranked fifth-best among cornerbacks. He allowed one catch per 13.3 coverage snaps, which ranks him sixth among cornerbacks.

Signs three-year deal

The Bears sign Rolle to a three-year, $11.25 million deal. $5 million is guaranteed.

It’s official…. Today was a long, painful, and exhausting day! But in the end we both get what we want…… A Team that wants to win and a player that would give them everything he got to win! Thank you to the Chicago Organization for making this day possible once again.

In 2017, $6 million of Revis’s $17 million salary is guaranteed. The deal came about after the Patriots declined to exercise Revis’s $20 million option for 2015.

I want to thank the Pats and Pats Nation for an unbelievable year. NEW YORK I’m coming home.

Dropped from Team

The Bears agree to trade Marshall to the Jets in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick. The trade relies on Marshall passing a physical. By trading Marshall, the Bears save $7.7 million in cash, and they give themselves $3.95 million in cap space. However, $5.625 million counts against the Bears’s 2015 salary cap.

The Cowboys sign Beasley to a four-year deal worth around $14 million. $7 million is guaranteed. The Cowboys could have used the second-round tender on Beasley, but they decided to sign him to a multiyear deal in order to keep the salary-cap numbers lower over the next two seasons. The Panthers acquire Jagr from the Devils for a second-round draft pick in the 2015 NHL draft and a conditional third-round draft pick in the 2016 draft. Florida general manager Dale Tallon:

We’re headed in the right direction. I’m excited about him coming here and just spending some time with him and watching him play. He’s an exciting guy to watch play. He’s still got it…We want to win. We want to win a championship and we’re putting the pieces together step-by-step and we’re hopeful that Jaromir can lead these young guys to the promised land. It’s a win-win for us.

Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello:

Jaromir never came to me. We never had a discussion about a trade. We never had a discussion about where, when, how, why. That is not something we feel is the way you should operate with players. You have to think of what is best for the organization.

Signs two-year contract

Rodriguez signs a two-year contract with the Brewers. The deal is worth a total of $13 million. Teammate Ryan Braun:

His personality fits really well on the team. He’s been really successful, and anybody that has that type of success is a lot of fun to be around.

Will play for Ireland

McIlroy announces his decision to play for the Ireland team in the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Maybe it was the way I was brought up, I don’t know, but I have always felt more of a connection with the UK than with Ireland. And so I have to weigh that up against the fact that I’ve always played for Ireland and so it is tough. Whatever I do, I know my decision is going to upset some people but I just hope the vast majority will understand.

This move potentially allows McIlroy to re-team with countryman Graeme McDowell, with whom he played the first two rounds in the 2014 U.S. Open.

Plays football for Yellowstone

Conor McGregor Football picMcGregor plays football in Brickfield Park, Drimnagh, for Yellowstone, now known as Stanaway Celtic, for two years. Manager:

Most weeks we’d have had about five people, a dog and a man with an umbrella at our matches. The first year he was generally down with us all year. But in the second, you’d be lucky to get him in once a week, because he got more into the MMA and got more committed.

Joins Straight Blast Gym team

McGregor joins Dublin’s Straight Blast Gym team, where he is coached by Sergey Pikulskiy.

Conor’s been wrestling since day one when I came to SBG. From the start he picked things up right away. He’s probably the only person who never missed a wrestling class.
