Hard Choices a ‘bomb’
Early sales disappoint for Hard Choices, Clinton’s memoir of her time with the State Department. Publisher Simon & Schuster is ‘nervous’ after 60,000 hard covers and 24,000 e-books are sold in the first week, compared with a target of 150,000 hardcovers. One million copies are reported to be shipped before the June 10 publication date. An industry source on the sales:
Sales were well below expectations and the media was a disaster […] They will be lucky to sell 150,000 total lifetime. It’s a bomb but it will be interesting to see how they spin it.
