He’s (John Cena) done a lot of great stuff, I mean the training curves and vitamins, he raised the bar hustle, team respect. He made it cool again to be a good guy but someone needs to drag him around the ring for a half hour.

WWE.com interview

Interview0 Comments

Hogan talks to WWE.com about his career, the WWE, his life inside the wrestling industry and interacting with Vince McMahon upon his return to WWE.

He (McMahon) actually gave me that shot of confidence I needed that night. When I was really jitterbugging right before I had to go out, Vince kicked the door down and he gave me this hug that felt like it should have broken my ribs. He goes, “Go out there and have fun!” And I went, “Yes. That’s what I needed. I needed that from you.” He’s always been there and we’ve always been friends.

Hogan talks to WWE.com about Ultimate Warrior and still getting nervous in WWE.

Oh yeah, there were nerves. Even the night before, I couldn’t sleep. I was tossing and turning. I’m thinking, “How are these fans going to welcome me back?” But when I came out right at the top of the show and they saw me, it was almost like I had walked behind a 747 jet. The only way I can explain it to you is it was this energy and it was so loud it was like, “Woah!” It made me take a step back for a minute.

If you’re not a die hard wrestling fan, the story-lines have to be consistent. The plots have to be something that is very easy to understand.

Fighting Spirit interview

Interview0 Comments

Hogan talks to Fighting Spirit magazine. Hogan discusses Bret Hart and his issues with the fellow performer.

The main-event guy made the most money when he had the belt. When I was the (WWF) champion, I made the most money. It was an old rule that Vince (McMahon) Sr. had that, thank god, was passed on for quite a while. That changed when Bret Hart became champion; he’d work for a lot less than anybody else, so it changed everybody’s pay.

Finger poke of doom

Hogan faces Nash for the WCW title on Monday Night Nitro. When the match beings, Hogan pokes Nash in the chest, Nash falls to the ground and Hogan pins him, winning the championship in what WCW officially titles “The finger poke of doom”. Nash:

The “Fingerpoke of Doom” was nothing. The “Fingerpoke of Doom” was just trying to realign The nWo to face off with Goldberg and Goldberg ended up getting injured. I love how the story of my life is how I beat Goldberg to turn around and take the “Fingerpoke of Doom” a week later. Boy, that did me a lot of good. When you look at how people perceive the whole thing, it’s ridiculous…The number one problem people have with the “Fingerpoke of Doom” is it “got” everybody. And nobody likes to be “got.” So, of course, [know-it-alls] are going to hate it the most because they never called it. They didn’t see anything coming.
