C-130 crash, 89 killed
Military personnel and their family members, civilians and some students are among the passengers on-board a C-130 Hercules plane that departs from Soewondo Air Force Base in Medan, Indonesia, and crashes into a busy road five miles into the flight, near a residential neighborhood. 86 bodies have been recovered from the crash site. The plane took off with 122 people aboard, 110 passengers and 12 crew members.

Indonesia executes eight people for drug offenses including two Australians, Chan and Sukumuran who mere members of Bali 9. Filipino woman Mary Jane Veloso receives a last-minute temporary reprieve. Chan’s brother Michael:

Visits Indonesia
President Obama arrives in Jakarta on a brief trip to Indonesia, where he lived for four years as a child.
Obviously, much has been made of the fact that this marks my return to where I lived as a young boy. I will tell you, though, that I barely recognised it as I was driving down the streets. The only thing that was there when I first moved to Jakarta was Serena [a shopping mall]; now it’s one of the shorter buildings on the road.
Indonesia outbreak
Seven people are reported with Zika virus in Indonesia. A subsequent study indicates that 9/71 (13%) human volunteers in Lombok, Indonesia, have a neutralizing antibody to the virus. Symptoms include fever, anorexia, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, and dizziness.
