He’s a very hungry character. He’s really ambitious, and he’s also, I mean, just literally hungry. We were talking about how these guys who do the work he does, which is basically go to crime scenes and accident scenes, and try to get footage to sell to the local news. These guys are kind of scavengers, they’re hunters, and kind of in the animal kingdom, they’re like the coyotes. The director and I decided that he should kind of look like a coyote cause they’re all over Southern California.

Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal split after two years of dating. Sources say that Gyllenhaal was ready to get married but Witherspoon wasn’t quite ready to make that step.

I don’t know. I don’t think about it much.
