Twins 8 – 5 Royals

Match Report

The Twins defeat the Royals 8-5. Mauer has three RBI’s and Vargas and Suzuki each add two-run home runs. Milone:

The guys had my back, especially scoring right after they scored in the first inning. You get that breath of fresh air, and go back out there and try to battle and keep your team in the game.

Hunter on Vargas’ home run

That was a bullet. I was in awe. I didn’t see David Ortiz hit nothing like that. That was impressive. I’m glad to see him start to come around and swing the bat well and be that threat we know he can be.

Advance to World Series

The Royals defeat the Orioles by a 2-1 score in the fourth game of the series, sweeping the American League Championship Series, giving them their first World Series berth since 1985. Left fielder Alex Gordon is very excited about his team’s performance:

We’ve been playing pretty good baseball. It’s nothing better than when you win. Today, same old story: good pitching, good defense and scratch out a win.

Celebrates Royals moving on to the World Series

Rudd, fan of the Kansas City Royals, celebrates as the Royals shut out the Baltimore Orioles to advance to the World Series for the first time since 1985. Rudd:

I know for the last several years, every year, all of us Royals fans we have the same hope. … When we went on that win streak this summer, it was like, this could legitimately happen. I’ve lost my voice, but I’ve lost my voice at just about every game since the Wild Card. (Tonight’s win) was amazing. This entire town feels it. I’m going to be partying at my mom’s house!Party at my mom’s, man. She’s out of town; I’ve got a keg. It’s going to be sweet! Five dollar cover!

Tweet from Kansas City Royals:

In World Series

The Kansas City Royals are headed to the World Series after shutting out the Baltimore Orioles in four games. This is the first World Series appearance for the Royals since 1985. Royals manager Ned Yost:

Right from the beginning of the playoffs, I don’t know what clicked for them, but something clicked. They were totally used to this atmosphere. There was no pressure.
