UFC lightweight Lee confirms he has been brought in to help Mayweather prepare for his proposed super-fight with McGregor.
That fight with Floyd, it’s going to happen. Floyd’s management reached out to me a little while ago and asked me to be a part of the camp. So I’m excited to do that, I could use a couple bucks in my pocket, that’s for sure…It’s a win-win situation for [McGregor]. If he loses — which he’s going to lose, he don’t stand a chance in the fight — he knows it going in he’s just there for the cash grab and then he’ll come back and fight Nate, or he’ll bump up and fight Tyron, before he jumps down and messes with us real killers at 155. He ain’t stupid…It’s great for MMA, because it has no downside. It’s horrible for boxing, I ain’t gonna lie. And they’re paying me, so I better…(laughs)…but it’s horrible for boxing. I think it’s going to kill the sport of boxing, but the money is too large to pass up.
His prediction for the fight:
Floyd isn’t going to knock out Conor. Conor’s a much bigger man. I expect Conor to come out and try to sling Floyd around a little bit in the clinch, try to wear him down. If things get too hectic about that seventh, eighth round, he might start — I don’t know, he might start to rough him up with some elbows. I’m pretty sure Floyd’s going to have us prepare him for that — being able to throw him around, and maybe even kick him a little bit. You never know.
Lee says he didn’t realise that McGregor was in the stadium when he won.
If I knew Conor McGregor was sitting front row, I would have jumped the cage – damn…All Irish guys look alike. I wish I would have known. Somebody could have told me. They’re all just red beards and bald heads to me.
He also says that, as a wrestler, he has the skills to beat McGregor, and can beat Nurmagomedov:
[McGregor]’s the champ of this division now. I said it a while ago – I’ll be the champ. He’s 28. I’m 24. He ain’t got nothing on me but some years…I think after his last fight, he said you’ve got to have some height, some reach, some weight – I’m 195 pounds outside of fighting – 77-inch reach, 5-10, a hell of a wrestler, so this fight was about showcasing that I’m the best wrestler in this division…Everybody thinks that Khabib is the best wrestler, but this is good old-fashioned American wrestling…This ain’t that sambo shit. If you want to go out there, me and Khabib, no punches thrown, I’ll (technical fall) him, 15-0. I’ll keep taking him down, and he won’t do a damn thing about it.
After beating Mustafaev at UFC Belfast, Lee calls out everyone in the Lightweight division, including McGregor.
This is a division full of a bunch of bitches. I call out everybody. I’m on my way up, man. F-ck that…I reminded everyone that I am the best fighter in this division. I am the best wrestler. That’s what I came out here to show. I didn’t even care about finishing him. I wanted to show that I could keep taking him down whenever the fuck I want to. And I would put McGregor on his back right now in this arena and there isn’t a motherfucker in this arena that would stop me…I don’t care about the Irish, I called out Conor McGregor because I want that fight. He’s the champ right now in this division and he doesn’t have anything on me but some years. He’s 28, I’m 24. I have years to catch up with him and I wanted him to know that I’m on his ass, that’s all that was about. He’s got that target on his back and I’m one of the guys that’s chasing him.”
