Von Sydow is nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 84th Academy Awards for portraying The Renter in Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

My sincere thanks to my colleagues at the Academy. It is wonderful. I don’t know what to say.  I am dumbfounded.
