Naegleria Fowleri is a microorganism found in bodies of warm freshwater ponds, lakes, rivers, and hot springs. When water containing the organism is breathed in through the nose, it enters the brain through nasal and olfactory nerve tissue, where is cause a lethal infection of the brain called naegleriasis (also known as primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAM). The infection is nearly always fatal.
