castleThe visitors are let down by poor finishing. Magpies debutant Siem De Jong gets a chance to win it for his side but fails to score. Before he is sent off, defender Mike Williamson hits an air shot from Remy Cabella’s looping pass. Pardew’s wait for the first premier league goal still goes on but is encouraged by impressive cameo. Emmanuel Riviera registers Magpies first on target effort of the season but Brad Guzan easily stops it.Meanwhile Villa go closest through impressive winger Charles N’zogbia who curls a free kick narrowly wide against his former club. Lambert:

I think a few years ago Aston Villa struggled with experienced players. It’s tough, the league is tough but the start we have been made has been really good

Pardew:

It’s a great start for us after everybody was doom and gloom about the football club towards the end of last season, we’ve certainly took that challenge on.

Newcastle 3-3 Crystal Palace

cpWilfred Zaha upstages fellow substitute Rolando Aarons to inspire Newcastle  to a  first win in the season. Palace enjoy a flying start to the match and are in front within the first minute but Darryl Janmatt reacts with his own in the 37th minute with first half ending in a draw. Palace regain the lead three minutes into the second half through Jason Puncheon but Pardew’s side comes back when Aarons heads the ball in the net. Mike Williamson in the 88th minute scores to separate the two sides but it’s not long until minutes into extra time when Zaha restores the game to a draw. Warnock:

I told them to play with a smile. All three wingers worked their socks off and I was really pleased. Zaha looked positive when he came on. People would expect us to defend but we wanted to win the game.

Spurs 1-2 Newcastle

On the 10th anniversary of the death of manager Bill Nicholson, Spurs lose at home to a Newcastle side that started the day in the bottom three. Spurs dominate the first half but only have a headed goal by Emmanuel Adebayor to show for it. Sammi Ameobe, a half time sub scores 7 seconds after the restart. Ayoze Perez gives the visitors the lead with a well placed header on 58 minutes. Spurs fail to produce a shot on target for the remainder of the game and are booed off the pitch at the end of their third defeat in five home league games.
