Minaj releases Right By My Side featuring Chris Brown video from her album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. Directed by Diane Martel the video features Minaj and rapper Nas as a couple. When asked about the kiss the two shared during the video Minaj states:

You know, what? It worked. It was hip-hop Queens, royalty. Outside of the kiss, it just had so much chemistry. It seemed like a real relationship, a real hood relationship and I wanted to portray that. I wanted the song to feel like your around the way relationship.
