The Wolf and the Lion

Coster-Waldau appears as Ser Jaime Lannister in the fifth episode of Game of Thrones, The Wolf and the Lion. Sean Bean plays Lord Eddard ‘Ned’ Stark, the Hand of the King. In King’s Landing, Jaime learns that his brother has been taken captive by Lady Catelyn Stark for his suspected involvement in an attempt to murder her son. Knowing that Ned has resigned his position and lost the backing of the king, Jaime and a group of Lannister guardsmen confront Ned and his retainers. Realizing that killing Ned would endanger his brother, Jaime has his guards kill the Stark soldiers, killing one himself with a dagger. He faces Ned in hand-to-hand combat and is surprised by Ned’s strength and skill. As they fight, a Lannister man attacks Ned from behind with a spear, injuring his leg. With Ned unable to continue, the duel ends.
