Celtics 113-103 Pistons

Match Report0 Comments

The Celtics win 113-103. Thomas scores 34 points, a season high for the player, and Crowder scores 17 points. For the Pistons, Drummond scores 22 points and 14 rebounds, Jackson scores 21 points and 15 assists, and Greg Monroe scores 19 points and ten rebounds. The Celtics eliminate Detroit from playoff contention. Coach Van Gundy on Thomas’ performance:

A lot of this game came down to the fact that we just couldn’t contain Isaiah Thomas. We couldn’t keep him out of the paint, we couldn’t stay with him on pick-and-rolls and when we tried to trap him, he just went around our bigs.

Coach Stevens:

He was just great – he’s a really skilled player. He was playing with really skilled groups tonight and he was getting to the rim and getting his shots.

Crowder:

This was a big game for us, and we played within ourselves. We executed everything we needed to do, and they didn’t make many adjustments on the pick and roll. It was good.

The Pistons win 89-88. Jackson scores 29 points, Drummond scores a double-double (11 points and 17 rebounds). Wade scores 24 points, Dragic scores 21 points and Whiteside scores a double-double (13 points and 12 rebounds) for the Heat. Coach Van Gundy:

Reggie really stepped up. We had a talk about him wanting to have the opportunity to be ‘the guy.’ Well, ‘the guy’ can’t be tired. I thought he…was not the least bit afraid to take the game on his shoulders tonight.

Jackson:

You gotta go. There’s no excuses, This is something I have been asking for my entire life, something I have always wanted. I want to be the man, and you have to go be special…Everything is kind of on my shoulders. We go as I go, so just continue to be aggressive, attack and make the right plays. You have to go chase it.

Coach Spoelstra:

I really don’t remember a defensive stop other than the second-to-last play in the last five minutes. (Jackson) made every big play and we just couldn’t get a relief stop or a relief bucket down the stretch.

Pistons 111-97 Magic

Match Report0 Comments

The Pistons win 111-97 over Magic. Jackson scores a triple-double ( 26 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists) for the team. Harris score 21 points for the Magic. Coach Van Gundy:

Reggie sort of had a tough start, but he started to attack (in the third quarter) and that really gets him going. When he’s playing laterally, east and west, he’s not as good. When he’s on the attack, he’s really good.
