Reigns is born in Pensacola, Florida. He is the son of Sika Anoa’i of WWE fame. Reigns would grow up with a natural interest in professional wrestling due to his family’s heavy involvement in the sport.
It’s a responsibility (wrestling); I’m from such a prestigious lineage. Multiple WWE Hall of Famers are in my bloodline. It’s one thing to reach par, but I’m trying to hit hole-in-ones every single night.

When I was a kid, that’s all we ever talked about, that’s all everyone around me did, Once things slowed down with football and I finished up in Canada, I figured out that the passion to wrestle and be a WWE superstar was still there, so it kind of summed things up for me, really focused me on getting into the business and learning how to wrestle.
WWE debut
Reigns makes his WWE debut alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. The trio attacks Ryback during main event match-up. The trio names themselves “The Shield” and vows to rally against “injustice”.
The Shield debuts in WWE
Rollins, Reigns and Ambrose make their first appearance as The Shield at WWE Survivor Series by running in through the crowd to attack Ryback during the evening’s WWE Championship triple threat match. The trio put Ryback trough the announcer’s table with a set up powerbomb.
First WWE title victory
Reigns wins WWE tag team titles alongside Seth Rollins at Extreme Rules pay-per-view. The pair defeats Team Hell No to obtain the championships.

The SHIELD obtain the WWE World Tag Team Championships by defeating Team Hell No in tornado tag team action at Extreme Rules. Reigns picks up the pinfall victory over Bryan to claim the titles.
Orton & Bryan vs SHIELD – Tag Team Titles
The SHIELD retain their WWE Tag Team Championships by defeating Bryan and Orton at Payback. Rollins picks up the pinfall victory over Bryan at twelve minutes and fourteen seconds.
Usos vs SHIELD – Tag Team Titles
The SHIELD retain the WWE World Tag Team Championships by defeating the Uso Brothers at Money in the Bank. Reigns picks up the pinfall victory on Jey at fourteen minutes and forty-seven seconds.
Ambrose vs Van Dam – U.S. Title
Van Dam defeats Ambrose via disqualification at Summerslam after interference from Reigns at thirteen minutes and forty-five seconds. Due to the terms of the loss, Ambrose retains the United States Championship.
SHIELD vs Prime Time Players – Tag Team titles
The SHIELD retain the WWE World Tag Team Championships by defeating the Prime Time Players at Night of Champions. Rollins picks up the pinfall victory on O’Neil at seven minutes and thirty seconds.
Rhodes Brothers vs Usos vs SHIELD – Tag Team Titles
The Rhodes brothers retain the WWE World Tag Team Championships in triple threat tag team action against The Uso Brothers and The SHIELD. Cody picks up the pinfall victory on Rollins at fourteen minutes and forty seconds.

The match as far as me beating CM Punk that’s– that’s something everybody’s going to have to get used to. Me taking down a lot of the top superstars, on my own. As far as cracks in The Shield–you know I don’t see it as a “weak link” type thing.

Money in the Bank WWE title ladder match
Cena obtains the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in an eight man ladder match at WWE Money in the Bank. Cena grabs the title hanging above the ring for the victory at twenty-six minutes and thirty-five seconds.
Cena vs Orton vs Reigns vs Kane – WWE Title
Cena retains the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Battleground by defeating Reigns, Orton and Kane in fatal four-way action. Cena pins Kane at eighteen minutes and forty-five seconds for the victory.
Injured at RAW
Reigns is injured during match with Kane. WWE says Reigns requires six staples on his forehead. There is no mention of a concussion.
We brought Roman Reigns back to the trainer’s room after he sustained a laceration to his forehead when his forehead hit the ring post, We cleaned him up real well and put in six staples to close the wound. He’s going to be cleared for Smackdown.
Summerslam match announced
Reigns will face Randy Orton at Summerslam on August 17th. The pair has been feuding over WWE title shots the past few weeks, now the two will meet in the ring.
