Maxim Interview
Rousey talks about her Strikeforce Bantamweight Title fight against Miesha Tate:
I knew her arm was out, but she was still trying to escape with a bridge, so I was trying to put her arm in my other hand. I was sitting up trying to punch her with my right hand when she finally gave up. I didn’t feel bad about it—I was reacting to the situation. I treat the fight like it’s up for grabs until the very end.
Maxim cover

UFC 168: Rousey beats Tate
Rousey successfully defends her bantamweight belt against Tate at UFC 168, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in las Vegas. Tate manages to escape several of Rousey’s submission holds in the first two rounds, making her the first to ever reach the second and third round against Rousey. Rousey wins with an armbar submission in the 58th second of the third round. The move earns Rousey the Submission of the Night bonus worth $75,000, and she and Tate are awarded the Fight of the Night bonus, which is $75,000 each. Rousey is booed for not shaking an extended hand from Tate. Rousey:
Going more than one round was a good experience. In judo, I had to go five rounds. The experience is good, going longer than one round. I feel fine. I was much worse off after the Liz Carmouche fight, where she dislocated my jaw. I feel pretty good other than a scratch under my eye. I’m looking forward to a little time off and celebrating Christmas with my family. She’s a great fighter. It was an amazing fight she put out. She has my respect entirely in that regard, but she really needs to make up for a few things that she’s done before I’ll shake her hand.
Ice Bucket Challenge: Ronda Rousey
Rousey accepts the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and nominates Sylvester Stallone, Dwayne Johnson and Jenna Kronos.
Retains title
Rousey retains her bantamweight title after defeating Cat Zingano by armbar submission in fourteen seconds at UFC 148.
I was thinking that Cat might try and come and jump in on me right away because so many people were telling her that she was a slow starter and I’ve seen her try to do flying knees in the beginning. Because no one’s ever charged me before so they might think that might work. And the armbar, where it was behind the arm, I was practicing that completely facing a different direction but I’m glad I could adapt in a really weird scramble like that.
Fox Sports 1 interview
Rousey speaks about the fight with Zingano, and a possible rematch.
I sat down in front of her afterward, and I was honest and said ‘I’m happy to do this again sometime,’ you know?
Breaks interviewer’s ribs

Rousey breaks TV hosts ribs

RR: You know how to push my buttons
ST: I felt my ribs crush..I landed on my balls and my ribs.
RR: Is this a genuine reaction? I’m sorry, man.
Daily Beast Interview
Rousey talks about breaking her previous 16-second record:
I didn’t think I could break it. I had a bet going with my coach and said, ‘There’s no way anyone is going to break 16 seconds,’ and he said, ‘No, you’re totally going to break your own record.’ We bet $10,000 on it, and the very next fight I beat it by two seconds. I owe my coach $10,000 now… I screwed myself over on that one!
On Eminem:
I have to keep in mind who would sue me before I get into any kind of confrontation with anyone. That’s why I spend all my time at the gym and never go to the club. If I went to the club and got in a confrontation with someone, that would cost me all kinds of money.
And Laila Ali’s offer of a future match:
If she wants to take me up on that, I’m around. She’s retired and has several kids. I understand why she’d think that because she has a size advantage, but if you saw my last fight it had nothing to do with size or strength at all. That’s not how I beat people. So you can’t count having a size and strength advantage as having a real advantage against me.
SXSW appearance
Rousey appears at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas as representative of UFC and talks about the women perception in sports.
I think that women fighting in the Octagon really affects everything that women see as possible for themselves. It’s not about trying to find a role that already exists that you can fit into. Now it’s trying to dream up all the different roles you can create yourself. Just like we did in fighting, we can do in every single profession out there.
Trump ‘Glad to see Rousey lose fight’
Trump tweets that his is glad to see Rousey lose her championship fight, and says she is “not a nice person”.
Glad to see that @RondaRousey lost her championship fight last night. Was soundly beaten – not a nice person!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 16, 2015
‘Trump can shut his big mouth’
UFC’s McGregor criticizes Trump for his negative tweet about Rousey (he had called her “a bad person”).
It’s easy for someone that’s not in there to comment, but it’s different when you’re in there. The emotions are high. It is what it is. You either want to touch gloves or you don’t. That means nothing, so Donald can shut his big, fat mouth. I don’t give a f-ck about Donald Trump.
Finish the Fight trailer

RIZIN CEO: McGregor, Rousey great for Japan
Sakakibara says McGregor and Rousey would be welcomed in Japanese MMA.
He would do fantastic. The fans would go crazy over him. Their style, Conor and Ronda, given the weight class and divisions of who they are, being able to make such a huge success financially, that has changed history within the fight game.
Earn The Title teaser ad
Rousey and McGregor square off at the start of a Bud Light ad teaser, called Earn The Title. The ad teases another commercial to be released on June 30, where two teams of three fighters apiece challenge for some kind of title. Jones: ‘Foolish’ McGregor and Rousey believed hype
Jones says it’s important not to believe that you are unbeatable.
I know that I can be beat and I think that’s why I haven’t been beat, where some of these guys really start to believe their hype. Ronda Rousey, they were saying she’s the best fighter of all time and best athlete in the world, stuff like that and I was happy for her to hear those types of accolades, but once I realized that maybe she was starting to believe it herself, I knew she was in a dangerous spot. Conor McGregor saying these things about just being the baddest dude and ‘I’ll beat anybody at any weight class,’ that’s foolish stuff. When you believe the hype to that level, that’s when you’re in danger…People always ask if I’m competing with with Conor or Ronda. I’m not at all. I think there’s enough room in the sky for many stars. We all bring so much different things to the table, different demographics and viewership so I’m just grateful to be a part of of the conversation again of being top dog.
