Dee is nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 80th Academy Awards for portraying Mama Lucas in American Gangster.

I am excited to be recognized. It is always a delight to work with Denzel, and I enjoyed the opportunity to get to know Ridley Scott and to be a part of such a dynamic cast and crew. Of course, Harlem is home, and its stories hold a special place in my history and my heart.
