Seacrest interviews Gruys during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about why she decided to not use mirrors for a year.

I was shopping for wedding dresses with my mom and I kind of expected it to be one of those amazing moments in my life, when all I felt were good feelings. Instead I just found myself staring at my body in the mirror for hours on end and picking it apart. I really want to learn about myself and I want to think of myself as more than just somebody who looks good or has a bad hair day. I want to emphasize all the other amazing things I have going on in my life and the unique things that make me myself that don’t have anything to do with my looks.
