Sam Smith interview
Seacrest interviews Smith during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about what kind of music he is writing now.
Well, I’m still managing to feel sad every now and then. I started writing recently and this whole experience the only way I can explain it is: If you asked me a year-and-a-half ago or two years ago, when I was at home working in a bar, if you would have asked me what I thought life would be like if I was successful and everything was how it is, I would say, ‘It’s going to be fine. I’ve been emotionally prepared for it. I’d have loads of bodyguards like Nicki Minaj and feel good. But I literally feel like I’ve been plucked out of secondary school and just put into this situation. I still feel like a beginner and still feel like I’m looking around, like, ‘What is going on? It’s all weird.’ So at the moment, when it comes to writing music, I’m starting to talk about that and talking about how uncomfortable I am in certain scenarios.
