Bean stars as Alec Trevelyan, also known as Agent 006, opposite Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond in the 17th installment of the franchise. Seemingly a friend of 007, he holds MI6 responsible for for the deaths of his parents at the hands of Stalin after World War II and secretly plots revenge, faking his own death and transforming into the crime lord Janus. The film grosses $350.7 million worldwide. On playing the villain:
It’s more fun to play the bad guy […] A bad guy has to have unpredictability. You have to be able to make the audience sympathize with your character without being cheesy. I like playing intelligent bad guys. They have to have an agenda. Plus, I do think there’s something sexy about them. They’re driven, passionate,edgy. It’s quite seductive for a character to achieve all that.
