Witness balks
Cle “Boan” Sloan, who describes himself as a “non-active gang member,” balks at giving testimony that would incriminate Knight, repeatedly saying he did not recall events. Prosecutors say Knight traded punches with Sloan through the window of his vehicle before putting the truck into reverse, knocking Sloan and Terry Carter, to the ground. They say he then pulled forward to run over both men. Carter, 55, later died. Sloan, 51, suffered a badly mangled left foot and head injuries.
I’m no snitch and I will not be made to be a snitch. I will not be used to send Suge Knight to prison.
Asked by Deputy DA if he could identify Knight as she pointed to him in the courtroom:
That doesn’t look like Mr. Knight.
With no testimony, attorneys read from a transcript of a statement he gave police detectives that night.
Fires lawyer
Knight complains to judge about being confined to a wheelchair before firing his lawyer, David Kenner. Knight doesn’t give a reason for wanting to replace Kenner. Judge Ronald Coen asks Knight if he wants to fire his lawyer. Knight replies:
Kenner is fired.
$25 million bail set
Judge Ronald S. Coen sets the rapper’s bail at $25 million. Prosecutors had argued that the bail should be set at $25 million because of Knight’s past criminal record, citing police reports showing past links to robberies, assaults and battery. After hearing this, Knight collapses and is taken to the hospital.
Murder charge
Knight is charged with murder and attempted murder due to his involvement in a fatal hit-and-run. He is held without bail. Knight’s attorney, James Blatt:
We feel strongly Mr. Knight did not do anything wrong in this matter. He was attacked by a number of individuals; that has already been corroborated by certain witnesses. He left the scene because he was in fear for his safety and life.
Arrested for robbery
Knight and Williams are arrested for robbery. The arrest stems from an incident in Beverly Hills on September 5, where Knight and Williams allegedly chased a woman down an alley and stole her camera. Lt. Lincoln Hoshino of Beverly Hills Police:
We’re still working the case.
Recovering
0 CommentsKnight discusses recovering from his injuries as well as just being grateful to be alive. When asked if he saw who shot him:
It’s gonna be some times when you might get a few shots, but if you’re able to survive those shots, you’re supposed to make yourself stronger and be more positive and more aggressive of the people you wanna deal with, and that’s the page I’m really on.
Shot in LA nightclub
0 CommentsKnight is shot twice at Los Angeles nightclub 1 OAK during Chris Brown’s pre-MTV Video Music Awards party by an unidentified gunman. After surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Knight is expected to recover. Knight’s family comments:
Suge is currently resting and has lost a lot of blood, he’s human. He’s done a lot of things for the community and the culture as a whole so we ask that you respect that.
