At a press conference in Hawthorne, California, the company introduces the Model S, a full-sized luxury sedan.  Priced at around $50,000 (list price of $57,000 minus federal tax credits), the car is expected to go on sale in 2011.  It can seat seven, has a single-charge range of up to 160 miles (around 300 miles with an upgraded battery pack), and accelerates from zero to 60 mph in about six seconds.
