The group is inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame at the 27th induction ceremony. Author Otto Fuchs:

One last thing, all musicians who shared the stage with Bill Haley as The Comets from 1952 until 1980 should be seen as what they were. They were contributors to the success of Rock and Roll and Bill Haley.  Contrary to what the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame published, the band did not break up in 1962, but went on until the final curtain fell for Bill Haley!
