McGregor inspires Hardy character ‘Venom’ in upcoming film

Makes Statement0 Comments

Hardy reveals McGregor inspired his character in the upcoming film, ‘Venom’. Hardy plays the character of Eddie Brock who transforms into Spider-Man’s arch nemeses, Venom, after his body is infiltrated by an evil alien symbiote. He says the role was excting because it’s a double act. He sees Brock as:

A mixture of Woody Allen and Conor McGregor: tortured neurosis but also bravado.

And for the character of the alien, he was inspired by James Brown and “one of those rappers from the Nineties, big voices: Redman or Method Man”.

Mad Max: Fury road

Film Appearance0 Comments

In this adventure directed by George Miller based on a book by Brendan McCarthy, Nick Lathauris and Miller, Hardy plays Max a man of action and few words trying to restore order in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken. Costarring Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Josh Helman, Zoe Kravitz and Rosie Huntington.

When I got over the initial jubilation and excitement I suddenly realised that Mad Max is synonymous with Mel Gibson. If it’s not Mel it’s not Mad Max, and that was a little bit daunting and possibly people were going to dislike the change

The Drop

In this drama directed by Micheal Roskam, Hardy plays Saginowski, a small-time crook who funnels cash to local gangsters in the underworld of Brooklyn bars. He finds himself at the centre of a robbery gone wrong and involved in an investigation that digs into the neighborhood’s past. Co-starring James Gandolfini, Noomi Rapace, John Ortiz and Ann Dowd. About developing his Brooklyn accent:

It’s like trying to wrangle a cat. There are so many cultures and different ethnicities, so it was more confusing than anything — this collage of Biggie Smalls, Robert De Niro, and Al Pacino. I’d be listening to rap music, and someone would say, No, that’s not [the accent] for Polish Brooklyn. Then you go to Polish Brooklyn, and there’s all these different accents there!

It was a beautiful, low-key day made even more special because they just had their closest friends and family around them. Tom’s son Louis played a key role during the ceremony and they made certain to pick a stunning and private setting.

Elle Magazine interview

Hardy gives interview to Elle about how he relates to his character as Bane in The Dark Night Rises.

Some characters are nicer to have at home than others, Charlotte says. It’s hard to shake it all out. There’s a decompression period back to civilian and family life. I’ve only just realized that, actually. We’ve had six months with nothing to do but prep for the next project and be at home and be a family, and I realized how deeply affected I can be by a character, and how much work it takes to just be at home and be present.

Hardy gives interview to Elle about his role as Mad Max during the remake of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

I celebrated when I got the part, but now I have to do the job. It’s a lot of money that they’re putting into it, and I have absolutely no rabbit coming out of my ass or flowers up my sleeve. Like, how do you eat an elephant? One step at a time.
