2014 CMA nominations announced

The nominations for the 48th Country Music Association awards are announced. Miranda Lambert receives nine nominations, tying her own record for the most nominations for a female artist in the 48 years of the award’s history. Five categories are announced on Good Morning America by Darius Drucker and Little Big Town, and the rest of the nominations are broadcast later in the morning at a press conference. The nominations for the top honor, Entertainer of the Year are: Lambert, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton and last year’s winner, George Strait. The 48th Annual CMA Awards will be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood and will be broadcast on November 5, 2014 at 8:00 PM on NBC.

Shelton takes home his fifth consecutive award for Male Vocalist of the Year at the 48th Annual CMA Awards. Shelton:

I r eally thought Luke was gonna win this thing this year! I could not be more proud to win this award tonight. This means so much to me. This is a big night for my family, so it’s amazing to be a part of this.

I also want to say one thing — they put a book under our seats before this show and it tells who all the past winners of CMA’s are.I saw tonight my all-time hero has never won one of these, so I want to dedicate this award tonight to my hero, Earl Thomas Conley.

Bryan takes home the award for Entertainer of the Year at the 48th Annual CMA Awards. Bryan:

I have longed and sought for many years to get one of these in my hands. To get the respect of the CMA Board and all its voters and win this is a ginormous deal. It’s something that I could not express when I was out on stage when I was winning it. I can’t help but in the back of my mind want some of that respect from this body of people. I’m just really humbled.

Eldredge takes home the award for New Artist of the Year at the 48th Annual CMA Awards. Eldredge:

It’s such an amazing feeling, and it’s really cool to be able to share it with all these people that carried me along the way and helped me through when it seemed like it was never going to happen. They helped make sure that it did. They always had my back.
