Jeff Daniels is an American actor born in 1955 in Athens, Georgia. He rose to fame in films such as Ragtime, Dumb and Dumber, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Something Wild, Arachnophobia, Gettysburg, Speed, and Pleasantville. Daniels currently stars as Will McAvoy in the HBO series The Newsroom. He earned honors such as an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Daniels has three children and is married to Kathleen Treado.
