Lee is born in Union City, NJ as the youngest of three siblings. Lee spends many years in motel rooms with her poor family. Her interest in wrestling develops at a young age due to her brother being a fan of WWE.

Begins wrestling training

I ran into financial problems and couldn’t afford (school) anymore, so I dropped out. I’ve always wanted to entertain people, and when I was in school I was interested in creative writing, but wrestling was always there. When I ran into financial problems I just figured when life gives you lemons, you have to make lemonade.
Signs WWE contract
Lee signs her first contract with World Wrestling Entertainment after paying $1,500 to participate in a tryout and begins working in the company’s developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling.
I began saving my money. I just thought, whether I get signed or not, they just need to see me. Fate must have taken over, because I was so skinny and didn’t know how to do my hair and makeup. I was just a blank canvas, and they took a chance on me.
Joins NXT
Lee joins the all-female third season of NXT.

I’ve been working my whole career to get to this point, it’s been nearly nine years now, and it was just incredible. I couldn’t stop crying, I haven’t stopped talking to my family about it, it’s overwhelming especially getting so much support from the fans and backstage. It’s been magical.
