Seyfried plays bride-to-be Sophie in this musical comedy directed by Phillipa Lloyd. Sophie tries to find her real father before her wedding day as she, her friends and her family sing hit songs by the popular ’70s group ABBA to set the scenes. Co-starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård and Colin Firth.
It was pretty simple for me to just be excited, and that’s the character I play. She’s just enthusiastic about life, and I was so enthusiastic about filming that I didn’t really have to go anyplace to get the right attitude. It was a very rare experience—Greece and Meryl and Pierce and dancing and singing, sharing something that is so private for me.
Seyfried appears on the cover of the September 2009 issue of Allure magazine. She talks about her Hollywood competition, her SAT scores, and filming Mean Girls.
Hollywood is just like high school: The popular people love the other popular people. And the thing is, some people aren’t nice. Or they are nice, but only to your face, not elsewhere.
Seyfried appears on the cover of the February 2010 issue of Lucky magazine. She talks about working all the time and her decorating inspiration.
I want my apartment in New York to feel very English. Like when I wake up, I could be Keira Knightley on the set of Pride & Prejudice.
Seyfried appears on the cover of the April 2010 issue of Glamour UK magazine. She talks about her dirty sense of humor, dating Dominic Cooper, and rude tattoos.
Seyfried appears on the June/July 2010 issue of Teen Vogue magazine. She talks about the paparazzi, love, and how she became a success.
I am successful now, and it’s wonderful. But the reason it is so wonderful is because I didn’t expect it to happen.
Seyfried appears on the cover of the October 2010 issue of Elle magazine. She talks about turning 25.
The best thing is, I’m happy. The worst is that I’m scared; the scariest thing is that I know it can’t be easy – the years to come.
Seyfried appears on the cover of the April 2011 issue of Elle magazine. She talks about being told she needs to get Botox, her best on screen kisses, and falling in love on set.
[It is] one of the easiest things in the world. You’re both open. You’re put in a situation where you have to make out with each other. It’s easy for things to get carried away.
Timberlake and Seyfried appear on the cover of the October 2011 issue of W magazine. She talks about sex scenes. Timberlake talks about the audition process.
In films, I didn’t crave the type of attention I had sort of stumbled into in my music career. And I do not audition well. I’m really not good at it. Early on, I did movies like Alpha Dog and Black Snake Moan because the directors didn’t ask me to audition.
Seyfried appears on the cover of the November 2011 issue of Glamour UK magazine. She talks about how she prefers British guys, working with Justin Timberlake, and her favorite fashions.
British guys are definitely funnier than American guys.
Seyfried appears on the cover of the March 2012 issue of Glamour magazine. She talks about whether she loves Dominic Cooper, having kids, and feeling competitive with other actresses.
Yeah, sometimes. But the funny thing is, the girls that I’m always up against for roles are pretty nice and cool, like Emma Watson. She’s awesome. She’s really funny and smart. And Carey Mulligan. It’s flattering to be up against her because she’s really good, and she’s cool too…I think the era of the diva actress is coming to an end.
Seyfried plays Missy, the fiancé, in this comedy directed by Justin Zackham. Don and Ellie, long divorced, have three children, one of whom was adopted from Colombia. After he is engaged, he informs Don and Ellie that his birth mother doesn’t know and wouldn’t approve of their divorce. They agree to pretend to still be married to appease her when she comes for the wedding. Co-starring Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, Katherine Heigl, Topher Grace, Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams.
I love comedy and it’s nice to be able to get away from playing only very intense women. Acting for me is about the beauty of expression and pouring yourself into a character and I can’t hold back – I have to push myself to the limit when I’m working. So it was a pleasant challenge to work with an incredible cast and have a lot of fun being part of that atmosphere. It’s nice not to exhaust yourself all the time.
Seyfried appears on the cover of the May 2013 issue of Allure magazine. She talks about her breasts and not wanting to be ordinary.
I’d rather not be ordinary looking. I want something different about me. We all want to be originals.
Seyfried appears on the cover of the August 2013 issue of Elle magazine. She talks about sexual attraction, her current crush, and choosing to act in Lovelace.
I read the script and I was like, ‘Wow, this is the riskiest thing that’s happening [in Hollywood] right now.’ The first thing you think about is that it could have ruined my career. At the same time, I was like, ‘This is my chance to show them, to show the industry, to be recognized.’
Seyfried appears on the cover of the April 2014 issue of W magazine. She talks about her recent vacation, kissing Megan Fox in Jennifer’s Body, and her fame.
We kissed really well together. We have similar kissing styles! If I watch the scene, it’s actually really sexy…We got it done for the masses, and, sadly, the masses didn’t show up.
Seyfried appears on the cover of the May 2014 issue of Glow magazine. She talks about being the face of Givenchy, her fragrance, and Givenchy matching her style.
You can wear a big overcoat and flat shoes, and still feel super-feminine, and that’s so hard to pull off. [Givenchy] takes classic pieces and f—s them up in such a cool way. Riccardo’s daring and I feel daring in them. It’s empowering.
Seyfried appears on the cover of the June 2014 issue of Elle UK magazine. She talks about reading what other people say about her and her body.
I would be lying if I said I wasn’t constantly aware of what I’m doing with my body. I don’t have to look like a supermodel. I don’t have to have those abs – the camera doesn’t see that. But because we have all been designed to want these things, I’m a victim of this stuff, too.
Seyfried appears on the cover of the August 2014 issue of Allure Korea magazine.
Warner Bros Pictures releases the trailer for Pan.
Seyfried says she was recently paid just ten per cent of a male co-star’s salary in a film. She does not disclose the movie — which could have been anything from Dear John with Channing Tatum to Les Miserables with Eddie Redmayne — but said that she and the actor were “pretty even in status” and should have received more equal salaries.
I think people think that just because I’m easy going and game to do things, I’ll just take as little as they offer. It’s not about how much you get, it’s about how fair it is.
Seyfried believes that every actress should fight for equal rights but that being willing to walk away from something is “an individual choice”.
