Atlanta hold Halas Verona to a goalless draw in their match opener. Bosco Jankovic gets first chance to test keeper Marco Sportiello when he drills in a shot from 30 yards in the 7th minute but it’s saved. Luca Toni makes a 15-yard effort seconds later but it is saved by Sportiello to the far post. The home side’s chance comes in the 33rd minute when Marcello Estiggaribia strikes from 30 yards forcing Helas keeper to stretch wide to clear the ball. Mandorlini:
The points are all important. On a difficult pitch we created our chances, we split an even match and we are proud of this achievement. We did better in the first half for 30 minutes when we controlled possession but perhaps a little coy on some occasions. Atalanta, were a very solid team, they were better in the second half, but we are happy with the performance here in Bergamo.
