Avril Ramona Lavigne is born in Belleville, Ontario. Her father is Jean-Claude Joseph Lavigne, her mother is Judith-Rosanne. She has older brother, Matthew, and a younger sister, Michelle. She started singing alongside her mother at the age of two in the church choir. She struggles with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHA).
My brother used to knock on the wall because I used to sing myself to sleep and he thought it was really annoying.
Lavigne releases her debut album, Let Go. In the U.S., where it reaches number 2 on the Billboard 200. It peaks at number 1 on the Australian, Canadian, and UK charts.
The worst thing that ever happened to me was getting my heart broken. I was 15 and I was in love and the guy broke up with me for no reason. It took me a long time to get over it. I wrote like 20 million songs about that!
Lavigne appears on the cover of the November 2010 issue of Maxim magazine. She talks about what she thinks of rising stars, new tattoos, and what makes a woman sexy.
Attitude and confidence. So, a new single and a new album to follow… I have officially just wrapped the album. I’ve been working on it for about two and a half years. I’ve lived a lot, gone through a lot, and put a lot into my songwriting. These songs are very meaningful to me.
Lavigne is spotted on a night out with friends without her wedding ring. Her fans are also surprised to see her drink white wine. She and Chad have previously said one of their rules of their marriage is that they don’t drink alcohol when they are apart. Source:
She seemed to be okay. But she was on her phone a lot.
In an interview with People, Lavigne talks about her battle with Lyme disease that left her bedridden for five months. She says that what helped her get through the long days was knowing that she had fans who were waiting for her to get better.
I had no idea a bug bite could do this. I felt like I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t talk and I couldn’t move. I thought I was dying…There were definitely times I couldn’t shower for a full week because I could barely stand. It felt like having all your life sucked out of you…This was a wake-up call. I really just want to enjoy life from here on out.
Lavigne is now a strong advocate of Lyme disease awareness, after contracting the illness that led her to become bedridden for five months.
I feel like I have a responsibility — I can’t just sit on my ass and do nothing. I need to talk about Lyme disease, because it’s real, it’s out there, it was a simple bug bite and it could happen to anybody. People need to know about it, because it’s not talked about that much and a lot of the information that’s out there is inaccurate.
Lavigne and Kroeger buy a $5.4 million mansion in Los Angeles. The 7,888-square-foot French-style property is in a leafy part of Sherman Oaks on half an acre of land. It features six bedrooms, seven and a half bathrooms, a gym, basketball court, outdoor kitchen, a gourmet eat-in kitchen with three dishwashers, vaulted ceilings, a number of hand-carved fireplaces, four Juliet balconies, a dramatic bridal staircase, an ivy-covered outdoor terrace and an over-sized swimming pool.
Lavigne makes her first concert performance in more than a year at the opening ceremony of the 2015 Special Olympics. She sings Fly.
I just sang FLY on stage for the FIRST time ALL THE WAY THROUGH live tonight in rehearsal. Making what feels like the impossible possible……Fighting through Lyme Disease. “Just Reach Up Don’t Give Up” so happy to be working with the Special Olympics LA 2015. Grateful
