Brad Pitt born in Shawnee, Oklahoma

Birth0 Comments

Baby BradWilliam Bradley Pitt is born in Shawnee, Oklahoma to a devout Baptist household. His father William Alvin Pitt manages a trucking company, and his mother Jane Etta (née Hillhouse) works as a school counselor. The eldest of three children, he has a brother named Doug and a sister named Julie. Soon after his birth, his family moves to different towns in Missouri and settles in Springfield, where he attends Kickapoo High School.

My father came from a very poor background, but I was very fortunate in the sense that we were never in need. He wanted to give us more opportunity than he had, a better shot at a better life. He did that for us. I had a very supportive family environment that gave me room to explore and discover things about myself.

I certainly don’t have the answer, but maybe because being as tough as life is, seeing people go to these depths, it’s just fascinating. It’s horrifying but there’s fascination.

We had some great choreographers on the fight scene once we got into the club itself. We did a little training in the beginning. But again, these guys aren’t supposed to be skilled fighters.

It was just something that started, and couldn’t stop. I don’t know what happened. It’s just the idea that you never have time to sit down and have a meal while you’re trying to pull off this heist, so he’s grabbing food all the time.

Troy

Film Appearance0 Comments

Pitt stars in this epic war film based on Homer’s Illiad. As the demigod Achilles, he leads the Greek army to war against the Trojans because of a bet that involved Prince Paris of Troy and Helen, the wife of the Spartan king Menelaus. He challenges Paris’ brother Hector to single combat, kills him, and drags his corpse back to the Greek camp. The film also stars Brendan Gleeson, Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom, and Diane Kruger. On his character:

There’s a real telling line when he says, ‘I want what all men want. I just wanted more.’ There’s a real restlessness, and as I say, an isolation in the guy. Whether he’s running from death, or trying to find himself in a personal glory, he’s at a point where he’s had that glory and that… that hasn’t done it for him.

Ocean’s Twelve

They need to give back the money they stole from Terry Benedict lest they risk going to jail in the US. Joining the original cast members are Catherine Zeta-Jones, Vincent Cassel, and Robbie Coltrane. On working with his co-stars:

I’d like to call it work but it was pretty much automatic for us. First of all, there’s a very low level of maturity amongst all the guys there so that helps. We bonded very quickly, then we got the beautiful women to make us look better but it’s pretty automatic.

Pitt, Aniston separate

Pitt and Aniston separate after seven years together. The separation comes after learning that Pitt and Jolie have started dating on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Pitt on feeling lost in the 1990s:

I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t.

Aniston says she was shacked when she saw images of Pitt and Jolie on the beach in Africa with Jolie’s son Maddox, and in a W magazine photo spread..

Brad is missing a sensitivity chip.

I love Brad; I really love him. I will love him for the rest of my life. I don’t regret any of it, and I’m not going to beat myself up about it. The sad thing, for me, is the way it’s been reduced to a Hollywood cliche — or maybe it’s just a human cliche.

We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate. For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media. This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another. We ask in advance for your kindness and sensitivity in the coming months.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Film Appearance0 Comments

Pitt stars in this romance-action film directed by Doug Liman, playing a hired assassin who falls in love and marries another assassin played by Angelina Jolie. Working for two different firms, both of them are not aware of each other’s true profession until a contract has been put on their lives. The cast includes Vince Vaughn, Kerry Washington, and Adam Brody.

The ‘assassins’ thing is secondary to me. The movie to me plays so much more on the level of relationships. That was kind of the backdrop or the metaphor for getting lost in your work. But having said that, [Angelina Jolie’s] a damn good shot.

Jolie, Pitt affair

Jolie and Pitt start an affair on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Jolie:

Because of the film, we ended up being brought together to do all these crazy things, and I think we found this strange friendship and partnership that kind of just suddenly happened. I think a few months in I realized, ‘God, I can’t wait to get to work.’ … Anything we had to do with each other, we just found a lot of joy in it together and a lot of real teamwork. We just became kind of a pair…It took until, really, the end of the shoot for us, I think, to realize that it might mean something more than we’d earlier allowed ourselves to believe. And both knowing that the reality of that was a big thing, something that was going to take a lot of serious consideration.

V cover

Magazine Cover0 Comments

brad-pitt-v-magazinePitt appears on the cover of the Fall 2007 issue of V magazine. He talks about becoming a father, the media, and luring the paparazzi to Africa.

It’s fourfold. For one, we know that’s going to happen so it becomes a plus. It’s all about cost and gain, plusses and minuses. Two, and most importantly, we loved the idea of our daughter being born on another continent, something she’ll be able to have roots in as well and want to explore as she gets older. That was the preeminent factor for us. Three, we knew that they had very strong privacy laws there. And we knew there was going to be a huge bounty on our heads and we were going to get very little peace unless we went to a place like that. And four, it happened to be a place that we loved.

Pregnant with twins

Pregnancy0 Comments

The actress announces she is pregnant with twins. The new additions will bring the number of children she has with Pitt to six.

We weren’t expecting twins. So it did shock us, and we jumped to six [children] quickly. But we like a challenge… It’s great for the sex life. It just makes you a lot more creative. So you have fun, and as a woman you’re just so round and full.
