Daley: Mayweather-McGregor is a ‘huge mismatch’
Daley, who is preparing for his fight with Rory MacDonald in the headline event at Bellator 179, says McGregor has no chance of beating Mayweather.
Most definitely it’s a mismatch. It’s been done well because McGregor fans are sold on the whole concept but you’re talking about one of the best boxers of our time, who has defeated some of the best boxers of our time. Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Canelo Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao. Those four names there McGregor wouldn’t even last three rounds with, let alone the guy who has defeated them all…Boxing is completely different to MMA. McGregor should get in there with a top three British fighter in his weight and see how he fares. I think if he jumps in with the best boxer of our era, it’s a huge mismatch. I can’t fault McGregor when there’s so much money involved…McGregor must be extremely confident to think he can beat or even challenge the best boxer of our time. It’s crazy.

Lee, who has had over 38 professional boxing matches, says that while a Mayweather-McGregor superfight will be entertaining to watch, ultimately McGregor cannot beat Mayweather.
In terms of a contest, I don’t see it being a real fight. Mayweather is the best boxer of our generation. Conor McGregor is a great boxer in UFC but hasn’t had a professional (boxing) fight. It’s like asking a triathlete to swim against Michael Phelps. He has to spread his skills across four or five disciplines and Mayweather is just focused on boxing. If it’s a boxing contest, Mayweather wins hands down. But Conor McGregor is tough and can punch. It’ll be one of the biggest promotions in the history of boxing. It’ll probably do more pay per views and sell more, be unprecedented. It will be a great promotion and a lot of fun watching the build-up.
McGregor has ‘the swagger’ to ‘clean up in Hollywood’ according to Guy Ritchie
Ritchie, who launched the career of Jason Statham in films like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, says he sees the same confidence in McGregor that he spotted in Statham — now one of Hollywood’s top action stars.
Like Jason Statham, [McGregor] is an athlete, completely on his game all the time, look where he’s at now. And you can see that similarity in Conor, he could clean up in Hollywood.
Ritchie, who is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Renzo Gracie, says he tried to persuade McGregor to take a part in King Arthur, though McGregor declined due to training commitments.
We even went after him for a part in the movie but he wasn’t having any of it. Was training for a fight at the time, couldn’t take his attention away from that. But you can see in his presence, in his demeanour, he’s got that swagger, that real appealing cockiness. It’s an unmistakable spark…Preparing for the action scenes, we watched a lot of McGregor fight footage because his style was what we were after. That very intense, singular, lightning fast, juggernaut trademark technique was perfect and we modeled Arthur’s physicality on that.

Nick Diaz: McGregor win over Mayweather ‘can’t be ruled out’
Diaz says it would be foolish to completely rule out McGregor’s chances of turning the combat sports world upside down with a Mayweather win.

McGregor-Mendez corner audio released
The corner audio for McGregor v. Mendez, from UFC 189 is released. After Jose Aldo withdrew from the fight due to a bruised rib, McGregor headed into the bout as favourite with many believing that Mendes’ two week training camp would simply prove to be too little time to prepare. However, Mendes brought McGregor to the mat on several occasions in the two round fight. With Mendes undoubtedly ahead on the judges’ scorecards, McGregor rallied at the end of the second, landing multiple strikes before his left hand eventually found the American’s chin and sent him plummeting to the canvas.
White: McGregor and I have ‘agreed on a deal’ for Mayweather bout
The UFC President says he has agreed in principle with McGregor on all the details about the Mayweather fight. White says they just need to put pen to paper, and expect it to be done on Sunday 14 May.
[Conor and I] are not meeting. We’re right there to get this deal done. I would like to get it done this Sunday, and start negotiating with team Mayweather. I think we’re there. Conor and I have agreed on a deal. Then you get a bunch of lawyers involved, and it [could get] stupid. As soon as this is done, we go to work. It will be me and [Al] Haymon, in Vegas or LA…If that deal can get done, then we’ll get it done. If we can’t, I’ll need to move on. It’s either going to happen this year, or it’s never going to happen at all. This isn’t something that I’m going to spend a bunch of time on, or I’m going to dedicate the next three months of my life to. Conor wants to fight twice this year. He feels the same way. He wants one of those fights to be Floyd, if possible.
Fertitta: McGregor and Mayweather deserve the money
Fertitta, the ex-UFC owner, says he supports Dana White’s plan to pay Mayweather $100 mil and McGregor $75 mil if they fight.

White sets Sunday deadline for McGregor negotiations
White says he is setting Sunday 14th May as the deadline to get McGregor’s part of the deal for the Mayweather fight, or he will walk away.
I plan on having this thing locked up by this Sunday and then moving on to Team Mayweather and starting a negotiation with them. If we really do get it done in that time frame, then this thing could possibly happen. But again, I still need to go negotiate with [Floyd Mayweather’s team]. There’s no guarantee that we’re going to come to a deal…I just can’t keep messing with this thing. I need to run my business and I have to focus on all the other things that are going on around here.
Hunnam says he was inspired by McGregor

White: Mayweather-McGregor negotiations ‘a nightmare’
While making an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, White confirms he had September 16th in mind for McGregor and Mayweather. However, he wasn’t able to get the deal done in time.
The reason they got my date is because I couldn’t get my deal done on time, so they got the date. Listen, life moves on, man. We don’t wait for anybody. If the fights are going to keep rolling – you know, I didn’t get the deal done fast enough so I lose the date. That’s how it works.
He also says he may walk away from the deal.
I’m not hinting that it’s getting close at all. I knew that this thing was going to be a nightmare to get done, if it can even be done. We’ll find out. Obviously, both guys want to fight each other, but what’s the deal? Can the deal be done? That’s the question. It’s not just Mayweather. It’s both sides of this thing are going to be hard to get done. And absolutely, there’s going to be a point where I’m done. This isn’t what I do, this isn’t my business and I’m definitely going to walk away.

White says that, despite uncertainties about the Mayweather fight date, McGregor wants to fight twice in 2017.
Conor wants to fight. Conor wants to fight Floyd, Conor wants to fight twice this year, so we’ll just have to see how this thing plays out…Obviously I was expecting him to fight this summer. That is not the case so we’ll see what happens. I know he recently came out and said he’d like to fight in November. I like Georges St-Pierre, he’s a great guy… we’ll see. We’ll see what happens.

Oh man. Oh man. I got no advice, man. He is doing quite well, man. I think he is going to do a good job. If he puts 10% of the effort into his child as he does fighting, I think he is going to do damn good. So I wish him the best of luck. [Fatherhood] is very terrifying. You are just not sure how you’re going to do. There is no real book for it, you just got to do it and hope that you’re the right person to be a Dad. I’ve been a champion, I’ve been a lot of things, I’ve had no better success…nothing better in my life than being a Dad. That’s my biggest success I’ve had so far.
