On my way to the bathroom, I saw Grohl, and Grohl saw me, and he came up to me first – which really pissed me off because I was going to go up to him first. I wanted to beat him to the punch. I was like, ‘All right, no matter what happens, we’re not going to be b**ches.’ That was my attitude going in, and obviously his. Not much else needs to be said. We just both knew it was time to let it go and we were ready to do it.
Courtney Love announces on Facebook that she thinks she may have found Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 plane on the crowdsourcing locator website Tomnod.
Nirvana performs at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center fronted by four female stand-in performers: Joan Jett, Kim Gordon, St. Vincent and Lorde. Courtney Love explained the situation publicly, saying:
Initially, I thought it was sexist, and a little bit ghettoising. But then I was like, ‘No, Kurt would have loved this.’ And there’s reality to it. Apparently, no high-profile dudes wanted to do it. It’s interesting, isn’t it? […] It was the punkest thing the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame has ever seen. I was really proud of that.
Previously, Dave Grohl revealed that a number of male rockers rejected the performance. Grohl believes it was because of the “weight of the situation.”
Courtney Love and surviving members of Nirvana battle for the rights to the Nirvana legacy. The complaint by Love and Frances Cobain depicts Nirvana as a one-man show, reducing Novoselic and Grohl to little more than sidemen. Love also insists that Cobain decided to break up Nirvana several months before his death. Grohl and Novoselic’s legal papers refer to Love as:
a complete alien to Nirvana’s music and success [who is trying to] prohibit the remaining members of Nirvana from any commercial exploitation of the music they created.
Both Novoselic and Grohl have refrained from granting interviews on the subject of Kurt’s life out of respect for Cobain and his family, whereas Love
offered up many interviews on the subject of Kurt’s life and death which contain glaring inaccuracies
A funeral ceremony is held for Cobain. A Buddhist monk chants as daughter Frances Bean scatters Cobain’s ashes into McLane Creek.
Love calls the Seattle police, informing them that Cobain was suicidal and had locked himself in a room with a gun. Police confiscate several guns and bottles of pills from their residence.
Love finds Cobain overdosed on champagne and Rohypnol. After five days in the hospital, he is released. Love claims the incident was Cobain’s first suicide attempt.
Frances Bean Cobain is born to Cobain and Love. Soon after her birth, Frances is placed in the custody of Courtney’s sister after reports of Courtney and Kurt’s continuous abuse of Heroin.
Cobain and Love marry on Waikiki Beach in Hawaii. Cobain wears green pajamas because he is “too lazy to put on a tux”.
Cobain meets Love in Portland’s Stayricon nightclub. The couple reportedly bond through drug use.
