Ambrose is born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He develops an early interest in professional wrestling and begins working for Heartland Wrestling Association selling popcorn and setting up the ring before beginning his training to become a wrestler there.
The Shield debuts in WWE
Rollins, Reigns and Ambrose make their first appearance as The Shield at WWE Survivor Series by running in through the crowd to attack Ryback during the evening’s WWE Championship triple threat match. The trio put Ryback trough the announcer’s table with a set up powerbomb.

Wyatt defeats Ambrose in a singles competition Tables, Ladders and Chairs match in the main event at WWE TLC on pay-per-view. Wyatt picks up the victory after hitting a “Sister Abigail” at twenty-six minutes and forty seconds.

Ambrose defeats Kingston in singles competition at Extreme Rules to obtain the WWE United States Championship. Ambrose scores the pinfall victory after delivering a headlock driver on Kingston.

Rhodes obtains the Money in the Bank contract briefcase, guaranteeing him a World Heavyweight Championship title match sometime over the next year. Rhodes grabs the briefcase hanging above the ring to claim the victory.
Ambrose vs Van Dam – U.S. Title
Van Dam defeats Ambrose via disqualification at Summerslam after interference from Reigns at thirteen minutes and forty-five seconds. Due to the terms of the loss, Ambrose retains the United States Championship.
Ambrose vs Ziggler – U.S. Title
Ambrose retains the WWE United States Championship by defeating Ziggler in singles competition at Night of Champions. Ambrose picks up the pinfall victory at nine minutes and forty-five seconds.
Ambrose vs Langston – U.S. Title
Langston defeats Ambrose in single’s competition at WWE Hell in a Cell. Langston retains the United States Championship when the match ends via count out (Ambrose) at eight minutes and forty seconds.

You know, it’s one of those things where a lot is at stake and you might have to take a big risk to get up that ladder. There’s a lot in play. Lots of metal, high heights, and a lot of players in the game. It’s a very unpredictable situation. You just have to go into with no fear and no reservations. You just have to go for it. You got to pick your spots and be smart though.
Lockdown film announced
WWE Films announce new film project, Lockdown. The film will be co-produced by Lionsgate and will star WWE superstar, Dean Ambrose. The film will follow a police officer who finds himself trapped inside his own precinct and hunted after crooked cops stop at nothing to recover incriminating evidence of illegal activities against those closest to him.
Written out of storylines
WWE reports that Ambrose has gone missing. This angle is to write Ambrose off of weekly television while he works on his new film project.
At the time of bringing him backstage, he was responsive and was refusing transport to a local medical facility for further evaluation. He had removed the straps and surgical collar, said he refused to go and we haven’t seen him since.
WWE return
Ambrose returns to WWE at Night of Champions to confront Rollins. Ambrose runs through the arena to attack Rollins and continues the beating until security pulls them apart.

Injuries are always unfortunate and sometimes if things are spread a little thinner, you might have to put more work on your plate that night because the show must go on. I’m not trying to take anyone’s spot in the business. I’m trying to have my own spot that no one can take because it’s my spot, it’s my thing. I’m trying to do my thing, not really worried about where everybody else is. But stuff happens and you just have to roll with the punches.
