Hollywood Reporter interview

Magazine Cover0 Comments

Donald Trump Hollywood Reporter coverTrump is interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter. On Rupert Murdoch:

We have been friendly. I wouldn’t say friends, but we’ve been friendly. But he had some very evil tweets, and now they’ve been nice lately. I don’t understand it, just like I don’t understand how Roger could have allowed that first [debate] question to be asked. So I have really no answer for it. I think he views me not as a politician but as a great businessman. I’ve got a net worth of more than $10 billion…Now what I’ve heard is he is very impressed with what I’m saying. He is certainly very impressed with my poll numbers. When he looked at the ratings, what happened to the ratings at Fox [News], I think that makes him think about it even from a financial standpoint.

On Bill Cosby:

I’ve never been a fan. I had one bad experience with him. I was on Letterman, and he was following me on the show. He said, “Oh, I want to buy you a suit.” It was nice, he bought me a suit. And then he was on [the Today show], and my name was mentioned, and he went absolutely crazy. And I said, “What the hell was that all about?” I was never a fan. His humor was always, like, slow and stupid to me. I never saw it. And then he’s obviously got this stuff. What amazes me is he was so quiet and then you see these depositions. What was he doing? Was he drunk? You see he admitted all this stuff on top of everything else. I think he’s weird. And I never found his humor good at all. Just sit in a chair, talk very slowly? And I say to myself, “What’s this all about?”

Would say to Pope: ‘ISIS wants to get you’

Makes Statement0 Comments

When asked in a CNN interview what he would say to the Pope about recent statements about the dangers of capitalism, Trump says he would like to meet the Pope but he would not stand for any comments that capitalism was toxic or evil.

I’d say, ‘ISIS wants to get you, You know that Isis wants to go in and take over the Vatican….I’m gonna have to scare the Pope because it’s the only thing. The Pope, I hope, can only be scared by God. But the truth is – you know, if you look at what’s going on – they better hope that capitalism works, because it’s the only thing we have right now. And it’s a great thing when it works properly.

Time cover

Magazine Cover0 Comments

Trump Time Cover August 2015Trump appears on the cover of Time magazine. The magazine runs a profile and an interview.

Well, I have the right temperament. I have the right leadership. I’ve built an incredible company. I went to a great school. I came out I built an incredible company. I wrote the number one selling business book of all time Trump: The Art of the Deal. I had tremendous success in show business–star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “The Apprentice” was one of the most successful shows. And as you know NBC renewed it, I just said I’m not doing it. They’re not exactly thrilled with me at all. But I’ve had a great career, and I know how to get along with people. I know how to deal with people.

Great Wall of Trump

Makes Statement0 Comments

On FOX Business’ Mornings with Maria Trump claims building a wall across the U.S. Mexico border is not a large undertaking.

You know, interestingly, the wall on southern border, it’s – really, if you think it’s 1,000 miles but it’s 2,000 miles, but a lot of it – some of it’s done – it’s done poorly by the way, what they have done is very poor, very poor work, a very poor job, and very — not much of a wall. But you also have natural terrain which is automatically a barrier, which is a good thing. So you’re talking about 1,000. And then you look at the Great Wall of China that was built 2,500 years ago. It’s 13,000 miles. And we’re really talking about something more than a little more than 1,000 miles. So it is something that can be absolutely done, not done at tremendous cost. You know, it’s been costed by politicians and they came out with these outrageous numbers…As you know, I know how to build. I know how to get it done. We’ll have a great wall. We’ll call it the Great Wall of Trump. We’ll have a great wall and it will be – it’ll be actually — it can be a good-looking wall, as walls go, but we will have a really terrific wall and it will be gone for the right price.

Bald Eagle photo spread

Photoshoot0 Comments

Donald Trump Bald Eagle photo spreadSchoeller explains the process behind Time‘s photo spread of Trump holding a bald eagle. The 27-year-old American bald eagle, named Uncle Sam, was flown in from Texas.

[Trump]’s very difficult to photograph. If you ask him to look up a little bit, he says no or he just doesn’t do it. He literally has one angle. If I ask him to smile, he puts on a big grin and then he goes back to his Zoolander ‘blue steel’ look. And the ‘blue steel’ stays for as ever long as it takes to get the photograph…When I get an assignment, I do my research and try to figure out what kind of picture would make the most sense given who the person is and what they’ve been up to. Mr. Trump liked that [bald eagel] idea. I thought he might be open to it considering he’s a man who loves attention. He likes controversy, and he likes to be in the spotlight.

Mobile, AL, rally

Gives Talk0 Comments

30,000 people attend Trump’s rally in Mobile, Alabama. In a one-hour speech he says that the worst part about free trade is that it requires good leaders and competent negotiators but the current government is lacking in both. Referring to Secretary of State John Kerry and U.S. Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy:

Some people say they’re bad people. I don’t think they’re bad people. I think they’re incompetent.

He describes the negotiators who work for countries like China, Japan and Mexico as “smart killers.”

The problem is their leaders are really smart. They’re really cunning, And we have dummies. We have people that don’t have a clue…So we have 300,000 babies that you have to take care of, we all have to take care of. In the case of other countries including Mexico, they don’t do that. You don’t’ walk over the border for the one day and all of a sudden we have an American citizen.

‘Enough Bushes’ ad

Ad Appearance0 Comments

Trump releases an anti-Jeb Bush video quoting his mother, Barbara, in 2013 responding to a question from NBC asking whether she would like to see her son run for president.

No. I really don’t. I think its a great country. There are a lot of great families. There are other people out there that are very qualified, and we’ve had enough Bushes.

More recently Barbara Bush has said she supports her son’s bid.

Stern: Trump will be nominee

Makes Statement0 Comments

Stern says Trump will be the 2016 GOP presidential nominee.

I’ll tell you why I think he’s going to be the nominee: He’s proven that no matter what he says, people dig him. [Voters] hate illegal immigrants but they just feel funny saying it — whether it’s rational or not — ‘Is the illegal immigrant draining your economy?’ Possibly. ‘Is he taking away your job?’ Possibly. I think more or less, people are super tired of politicians, meaning that they like the idea of a successful businessman running the country who might actually be able to get s— done…But the problem with it is, and Donald Trump will find this: being the president isn’t like being the president of a corporation. You still got to go through Congress for everything you want to do. And that’s the tough part. You’ve got to be one who can consolidate on both sides of the aisle, some sort of coalition. And it’s very difficult.

Ailes: trump should apologize to Kelly

Makes Statement0 Comments

Alies responds to Trump’s tweets about Kelly:

Donald Trump’s surprise and unprovoked attack on Megyn Kelly during her show last night is as unacceptable as it is disturbing. Megyn Kelly represents the very best of American journalism and all of us at FOX News Channel reject the crude and irresponsible attempts to suggest otherwise.  I could not be more proud of Megyn for her professionalism and class in the face of all of Mr. Trump’s verbal assaults. Her questioning of Mr. Trump at the debate was tough but fair, and I fully support her as she continues to ask the probing and challenging questions that all presidential candidates may find difficult to answer. Donald Trump rarely apologizes, although in this case, he should. We have never been deterred by politicians or anyone else attacking us for doing our job, much less allowed ourselves to be bullied by anyone and we’re certainly not going to start now. All of our journalists will continue to report in the fair and balanced way that has made FOX News Channel the number one news network in the industry.

Face in butter

Cameo/Guest Appearance0 Comments

trump-butterA Missouri vegan woman claims to see Trump’s face in a tub of Earth Balance organic spread.

This was pretty much before I had coffee, so I was easily amused. I needed to put on my glasses to make sure it was him.

She considers posting the butter to Ebay and donating the funds to Hillary Clinton, but eats it instead.

It was the only butter I had, so I had to make the sacrifice.

Kelly ‘not a quality journalist’

Makes Statement0 Comments

Trump says he “totally disagrees” with Ailes and said he does not think Kelly is a “quality journalist”:

I totally disagree with the FOX statement. I do not think Megyn Kelly is a quality journalist. I think her questioning of me, despite all of the polls saying I won the debate, was very unfair. Hopefully in the future I will be proven wrong and she will be able to elevate her standards to a level of professionalism that a network such as FOX deserves. More importantly, I am very pleased to see the latest polls from Public Policy Polling showing me at a strong number one with 35% in New Hampshire, the Monmouth University poll showing me, again at number one, with 30% in South Carolina and the latest national poll from Gravis where I am again the clear front runner with 40%. It was also just announced that I won the prestigious corn kernel poll at the Iowa State Fair by a landslide.

Ejects Ramos from press conference

Ramos: I have the right to ask questions.
Trump: You haven’t been called. Go back to Univision.
Ramos: You can not deport 11 million people.

When Ramos continues, Trump has him removed by security. Trump later says he doesn’t mind if Ramos is let back in. Ramos comes back later and discusses his stance with Trump.

Dubuque, IA, rally

Gives Talk0 Comments

Trump hosts a rally in Dubuque, IA, where his is introduced by Coulter:

I love the idea of the Great Wall of Trump. I want to have a two drink minimum. Make it a big world-wide tourist attraction and everyday live drone shows whenever anyone tries to cross the border. I have not had this much hope for America since November 7, 2012…

Trump:

I’m always on live television. If you’re on television every three or four days you got to say things different. You can’t be the same and give the same stories, right? I think about my speeches and I don’t believe in teleprompters, although it’s very easy. I would like to go up and stand and read a speech for an hour and just leave…I jokingly say if you’re running for president you shouldn’t be allowed to use teleprompters.

During a speech in Greenville, SC, Trump says his hair is real.

I don’t wear a toupee – it’s my hair. I swear!..[motions to audience member]…Come here – come here. We’re gonna settle this… You have to do an inspection here…This is crazy, just real quick. We don’t wanna mess it up too much, because I do use hair spray, that I do…Is it mine, look? It is? Say it, please.

The woman inspects the hair:

I believe it is.

Martin: Trump ‘makes my blood boil’

Writes Article0 Comments

In a Univision op-ed Martin criticizes Trump’s treatment of Jose Ramos.

The fact that an individual like Donald Trump, a candidate for the presidency of the United States for the Republican party, has the audacity to continue to gratuitously harass the Latin community makes my blood boil. When did this character assume he could make comments that are racist, absurd, and above all incoherent and ignorant about us Latinos?..Jorge Ramos was doing HIS JOB as a journalist at a press conference in which he appeared freely and democratically, representing one of the most important Latin television networks in the world. But this new character in American politics verbally attacks him and ejects him from the press conference.

Let’s show that our Latin race is to be respected, let’s not allow a political hopeful to plant his campaign in insult and humiliation. Let’s demand respect for those first generations of Latinos who came to the United States and opened a path for us. We have fought for every right that we have today…Xenophobia as a political strategy is the lowest you can go in search of political power.

Palin, Trump interview

Interview0 Comments

Palin interviews Trump on One America News. The talk about economics, veterans, and Trump’s confontation with Jorge Ramos:

Palin: You schooled that radical activist. And that was the right thing to do.
Trump: He was totally out of line. He was screaming and ranting and raving. And I said ‘Who is this guy?’ I’m suing Univision actually for $500 million dollars. His daughter works for Hillary Clinton and he was trying to put on a show. But actually he was hurting the rest [of the reporters in attendance].

‘Americans are tired of being patsies’

Gives Talk0 Comments

At the National Federation of Republican Assemblies’ 2015 conference Trump says he is winning bbecause people are tired of being taken advantage of:

People in this country are smart. We’re tired of being the patsies for everyone. There is a big, big, growing-by-leaps-and-bounds silent majority out there. [The 2016 race] is going to be an election based on competence. I love the Tea Party. You people have not been treated fairly. These are people who work hard and love their country, and then get beat up by the media. It’s disgusting. At least I have a microphone and can fight back…They [politicians] go to Washington and they get weak. They get there and they see these beautiful, vaulted ceilings and they say, ‘Honey, I’ve made it.’ That won’t happen to me, I promise.

Illegal business practices suit

Files Suit0 Comments

New York state’s attorney general Schneiderman files a $40 million lawsuit against Trump and his for-profit investment school, accusing them of engaging in illegal business practices. The suit alleges the Trump Entrepreneur Institute – called Trump University until 2010 – operated without an educational license while misleading consumers into paying for courses promising to teach Trump’s real estate investment techniques. More than 5,000 people nationally took the courses, paying $40 million. The lawsuit seeks restitution of at least $40 million, as well as a disgorgement of profits, penalties and an injunction. Schneiderman:

No one, no matter how rich or popular they are, has a right to scam hard-working New Yorkers.
