GQ interview: Trump protesters should work on their own situations

In an interview with GQ, McGregor talks about reactions to Trump’s presidency.

People like to blame others. I think a person should just look at their own situation, look around them, find out what they wish to do, and seek and go and do that. And that’s it. I was in New York when all of that was going down, the protests in New York with the Trump thing. It’s like, ‘Trump, out!’ When Obama came in, what happened to you?..Everybody’s just pointing at [Tump], and I don’t know. Rather than putting your energy into pointing the finger at somebody else, figure out what it is you need to do and do it, and do it right, and get it done, and get your situation right. And if a person does that, then their life will get better. Standing on a f-cking picket…I don’t know.

GQ interview: I’d ‘badly hurt’ selfie takers if they come near my son

In an interview with GQ, McGregor talks about how he will protect his child if fans asked for a selfie when they were together.

I’m not trying to bring a kid into that. If someone comes near me when I have my kid in my hands, like the way they come near me now, looking for pictures, someone’s gonna be badly hurt.

GQ interview: My fist is bigger than Mayweather’s head

In an interview with GQ, McGregor talks about Mayweather.

You use the term ‘fighting’ differently, because he’s not been fighting for 40 years. He’s been boxing for 40 years. There’s a big difference between boxing and fighting. Boxing is limited fighting with a specific rule set. Fighting is true, where you can do anything.“Yeah, of course we are [talking about his rule set]. We’re talking about boxing. That’s it. But again, age waits for no man. He’s 40 years of age. He’s a little…he’s got a little head on him. Honestly, my fist is bigger than his head. I sleep people. I put people unconscious. I’m stating facts. If I hit that man, his head is gonna go into the bleachers. You understand that? If I crack that little head of his, it’s gonna go clean off his shoulders and up into the bleachers.

GQ interview: Confidence comes from ‘my big ball sack’

In an interview with GQ, McGregor talks about his fighting style.

No one’s work is clean like my work. My shots are clean. My shots are precise. Look at Nate. Nate was 200 pounds. When I hit him down, it was exactly like if a sniper took aim at someone in between their eyeballs and let the thing rip. The way he dropped, it was like a sack of shit. So that’s a power I have…It’s all in the nutsack. It’s all in the ball sack. I just have confidence that comes from my big ball sack, and I know when I smack you, you’re going down. And that’s it.

Talks about fatherhood struggle

Timberlake speaks about his initial struggle with fatherhood.

At first, it broke me down. Those first eight months felt like those old [Ed Sullivan] shows where people are balancing spinning plates on poles – except if you drop one, they die. You go through your life with your own traumas, big and small, and think, ‘It’s not that bad, I have a lot to be thankful for, my parents did the best they could’. But then you have a child of your own, and suddenly it opens all the floodgates, and you’re like, ‘No, no, no!’ That childhood trauma really did f-ck me up!..I have some faint images from my [own] childhood but no, I can’t really remember not being famous. I was about 15 or 16 years old, [NSYNC] were just given a concert in Germany at a festival on this huge field. And we were in the tour bus afterward, driving on a dirt road, and I looked out the window and saw all these young, impressionable females running after the bus. I think we can all agree that I did not have a normal childhood…Would I want my child to follow my path? You know, I haven’t been able to answer that question in my mind. If he wanted it bad enough, I suppose I could teach him a lot about what not to do.

Faber: McGregor was right about Dillashaw

Speaking on The Alpha Male Podcast, Faber and other guests receive a phone call from someone pretending to be Dillashaw, which appears to irritate Faber, who talks about McGregor’s near fight with Garbrant, who had defended Dillashaw at the time.

Conor and I, we’d have a good banter back and forth. But we would have conversations, actual conversations all the time. So we’re standing in the gateway to go out to the fights, and that’s where they’d always put us together. He’s like ‘congratulations, we all watched T.J’s fight at the house, he’s so entertaining’. And then Dwayne does this interview saying no one on Team Alpha Male wants to be a champion, the only one who wants to be a champion is T.J. Dillashaw. So Conor — who understands about loyalty and things like that — goes ‘what’s up with Dwayne?’ … he got that little inkling that it was a sore subject and he just [rip at it]. So when T.J. got there, [McGregor] was all prepared just to needle him. Conor saw that little inkling and just ripped at it, and happened to be right.

Guardian interview

Frampton is interviewed by The Guardian. He talks about growing up in Ireland.

I was always quiet and even timid. A few years ago I read about [the boy he fought]. At least I think it was him. A newspaper report said he’d ended up in jail after stabbing another man. When I was seven he seemed so much tougher, rough and bigger than me. I was just a very wee boy shitting himself.

On upcoming bout with Léo Santa Cruz.

I don’t see any way Léo can change his game. He will just come after me as hard as last time. He threw 1,100 punches at me that night. He can’t do much more this time … but, even if he does, it will just give me more chances to nail him…I’ve watched the first fight a few times and I made plenty of mistakes. Sometimes I stood my ground too long. Even when I moved back I was doing so in straight lines. I got clipped with combinations as he has pretty long arms. So if I take one step and then meet him and counter I can cut out so many mistakes.

The Reveal interview

Kriegel interviews Frampton in Belfast.

Even since I was a kid, it’s a much easier place to live. I kind of grew up at the back end of the troubles. The troubles were almost over when I grew up, and there was a still a lot of fighting between the Catholics and the Protestants. Now it’s a much more inclusive city. It’s moved on a lot. I feel like I should have a job for the Tourist Board. I’m constantly promoting Belfast..This is a good city…I started boxing when I was seven years old. And I was in and out of Catholic/Nationalist areas all the time. So I never really got involved in too much trouble…They tried to keep religion out of boxing, and it’s one of the only sports it can really happen in..It’s a respect thing, and people respect good fighters over here. It doesn’t matter what side of the fence you come from…People want to look at me and say I’m a new figure for Northern Ireland. I’m a Protestant married to a Catholic. This is a ‘new age’ thing.

Daily Beast interview

Art Exhibition0 Comments

Sulkowicz is interviewed about her performance art piece, The Healing Touch Integral Wellness Center, where she will take on the role of a doctor, seeing ‘patients’ for 30-minute appointments from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for two weeks at the Philadelphia Contemporary gallery.

If the thesis of this project is that art heals in ways that medicine can’t, I’m trying to figure out what that means. I want this to be a space where people can safely explore their emotions—that’s what I think a ‘safe space’ is—and figure out what they need from art, not just as an intellectual journey but to really feel why art is important to them…It sounds corny, but if my goal with art is to actually change the world for the better, I think performance art is going to be the most effective tool for that.

On Nungesser:

Yes [I resent him], because people accused me of launching a bullying campaign against him. But no one knew his name until he put it out there…I’m doing other things now, but he still has a pending lawsuit. What’s he doing with his life? It’s crazy to me.

On whether she wishes she could escape the notoriety of her mattress performance:

Absolutely. It’s really depressing to not be anonymous. It’s an ongoing conflict because on the one hand, I’m happy that the movement needed someone to step up and be the face of it and humbled to have been chosen, but the sacrifices I’ve had to make for that have been really stressful. I’ve lost friends. It was a very tumultuous year and I was very depressed.

Mayweather: McGregor dodging fight

Mayweather claims McGregor is dodging the fight.

I’m not just the face of boxing. I’m the face of MMA. I support all fighters. They go through a lot to get to a certain level…Conor McGregor, I want to tell everybody this, right now; does he really wanna fight? Absolutely not. I’m trying to see if he really wanna fight but we can’t make the fight happen because he’s not his own boss. And I want to world to know this, just two fights ago he was just (tap, tap) tapping out. He was just (tap, tap) quitting. A lot of fighters, legendary fighters, fighters of today, MMA fighters, they call me and say, Floyd do what’s right. Call me what you want to call me but I’m not a quitter. I thought he lost [against Nate Diaz]. If Conor McGregor is kinda stealing the Floyd Mayweather blueprint, the bars with the cars, the jazzy dressing…I mean I can’t knock him. He’s doing what he’s supposed to do. Every fighter piggybacks off of the Mayweather name. I don’t even know him. I seen him (tap, tap) tap out…I’m an old man now I and I’m smart. And the best business move for me is Conor McGregor.

ND: You’re lucky you didn’t get choked out with that silly-ass suit mother-f-cker.
CmG: Shut your mouth. Come face-to-face. Come eye-to-eye.
ND: Whatever.
CmG: Putting that first in my face. Afraid to come face-to-face.
ND: Whatever. You’re afraid
CmG: You’ll be left holding that cheek.
ND: Don’t get scared.

White: Rousey built the UFC

White talks about Rousey’s loss to Nunes.

I went backstage after and hung out with her for probably 45 minutes. I’ll tell you this: She’s in better spirits this time than after the Holly fight. She’s very competitive. She does not like to lose. She loves to win. She loves to do what she sets out to do. Tonight wasn’t her night. None of this would be here without Ronda Rousey. Ronda Rousey built this. She talked me into letting women come into the UFC, and it was the smartest thing that I’ve ever done. Regardless of whether she comes back, or she doesn’t come back, she’s a wnnier. She built this whole thing…[She] needs to take some time. Maybe she’ll [come back], we’ll see what happens.

Post-fight intervew

Nunes is interviewed after her win over Rousey.

When I connect to her with my jab I knew she was going to go down…I trained for everything she bring today. If she come forward, try to  take me down, I’d be ready for everything… If she doesn’t know how to make changes to her game she’s not a real fighter.

ESPN interview

rousey-espn-interviewIn an interview with ESPN Rousey talks about her loss to Holly Holm.

I was just trying to make too many people happy. But when I try and do favors and make everybody else happy, at the end of the day, they walk away happy and I’m the one who has to deal with the depression. All the pay-per-views in the world, all the money in the world, it means f—ing nothing to me because I lost…If money is the motivation, then f— you. All these Money people… Money [Floyd] Mayweather, Money [Conor] McGregor. I see they’re trying to do an angle or whatever. People buy it.

And that as much as the loss to Holm crushed her, it has also allowed her to take back her life.

That loss saved me from becoming what I hate. One of those people who live their lives to impress everyone else. Who put up a front for the world to admire. Who make sure every charitable act is posted and shared for their own image gain. Who posture and pose for people they care nothing about except for the opinion they have of them.

UTV interview

fi-utv-interviewMcGregor is interviewed by UTV about his future plans.

I’m always looking to challenge myself. We’ve received the boxing licence, there are opportunities in the works and we’ll see where it goes…I’m training and preparing. For fatherhood, but also for what’s next. I’m preparing for … who else wants me. What else is next. So we’ll see. Right now, I’m a two-weight world champion. Whatever happens after that, we’ll see.

Who the f-ck is that guy? I don’t know who the f-ck that is, but I’ll slap the nose off him, if he mentions my name again.

McGregor: ‘You got to take them belts off me physically if you want them’

During the interview at Devenish nightclub in Belfast, McGregor talks about his belts.

The UFC is trying to strip me. I ain’t stripped! I still got that belt. I’m still the two weight world champion. I see articles, stuff online. But I don’t see the belt not in my presence…

Were you forced to give the belt up, or did you relinquish it?

Eddie’s still unconscious! I only fought last week. Them belts are mine…Jose was KO’d. Eddie was KO’d. You’re looking at a two weight world champion, and that’s me. I say to the UFC, you’re fooling nobody with that…You got to take them belts off me physically if you want them.

McGregor: ‘I don’t give a f-ck about Floyd!’

McGregor is interviewed at an event in Devenish nightclub in Belfast.

Originally what happened was: Floyd called me out. i don’t give a f-ck about Floyd. I don’t fear no man, under no rule set…and he leaks a rumour that we were going to fight. But it opened my eyes a bit. And I thought, hold on, maybe I can pursue this. Maybe I can pursue the boxing side…We were in the background with negotiations. It’s their move now. Since I got that boxing license, Floyd’s fat manager came out, ‘Floyd’s in the bahamas. He doesn’t care about Conor’. Well I don’t give a f-ck about Floyd either…So I don’t need Floyd. I hold all the numbers. I don’t need Floyd.
