Written apology

McChrystal releases a written statement in response to the profile by Hastings:

I extend my sincerest apology for this profile. It was a mistake reflecting poor judgment and should never have happened. Throughout my career, I have lived by the principles of personal honor and professional integrity.  What is reflected in this article falls far short of that standard.  I have enormous respect and admiration for President Obama and his national security team, and for the civilian leaders and troops fighting this war and I remain committed to ensuring its successful outcome.

Apologizes to Bush

In an interview with Lauer on The Today Show, West apologizes to Bush for saying he doesn’t care about black people

I would tell George Bush in my moment of frustration, I didn’t have the grounds to call him a racist. I believe that in a situation of high emotion like that we as human beings don’t always choose the right words.

Apologizes to Wise

According to a previous post by McAfee, Wise had come to New Mexico to write about McAfee’s flying adventures for Wired magazine, and had spent the night with a woman who was not his wife. Their public display of affection had prompted McAfee to say to the other guests, “somebody get pictures of this to send to his wife in case we get a bad story from him”. According to McAfee, despite this being a joke pictures were actually taken and some of those did find their way to Wise’s wife. McAfee says Wise blamed him for sending the pics and apologizes on his blog:

I have erroneously accused Jeff Wise of improper behavior on a reporting trip that he did to my flying ranch in New Mexico. I finally received the photos from that trip and was going to publish them, and when I looked at them, to my horror, it was a different reporter (whose name I will obviously not release) from a different magazine, on a different trip. I wish that I could excuse myself due to the fact that I did dozens of interviews and appeared in dozens of magazines during my flying times in New Mexico, and could be expected to be confused, but that is no excuse. Jeff’s trip did not even include a campfire session…I was wrong. I apologize. I know that that does not help, but I am truly sorry.

Plagiarism apology

LaBeouf issues a string of apologies to Clowes for the admitted plagiarism. The apologetic tweets begin sincere with:

Im embarrassed that I failed to credit @danielclowes for his original graphic novella Justin M. Damiano, which served as my inspiration. I was truly moved by his piece of work & I knew that it would make a poignant & relevant short. I apologize to all who assumed I wrote it.

As the online accusations continue, LaBeouf’s tweets begin to show signs of frustration and sarcasm, many of which contain plagiarized content themselves.  The most recent tweet contains a photo of an airborne apology, written in the sky by an airplane that was hired by the actor to say “I am sorry Daniel Clowes.”

N-word apology

Clarkson begs for viewers forgiveness after he appears to use N-word during filming of an episode of TV series, Top Gear.

Ordinarily I don’t respond to newspaper allegations but on this occasion I feel I must make an exception. A couple of years ago I recorded an item for Top Gear in which I quote the rhyme “eeny, meeny, miny, moe”. Of course, I was well aware that in the best-known version of this rhyme there is a racist expression that I was extremely keen to avoid. The full rushes show that I did three takes. In two, I mumbled where the offensive word would normally occur and in the third I replaced it altogether with the word teacher. Now when I viewed this footage several weeks later I realized that in one of the mumbled versions if you listen very carefully with the sound turned right up it did appear that I’d actually used the word I was trying to obscure. I was mortified by this, horrified. It is a word I loathe and I did everything in my power to make sure that that version did not appear in the program that was transmitted…I have here the note that was sent at the time to the production office and it says:

I didn’t use the N-word here but I’ve just listened through my headphones and it sounds like I did. Is there another take that we could use?

Please be assured I did everything in my power to not use that word, as I’m sitting here begging your forgiveness for the fact my efforts obviously weren’t quite good enough, thank you.

Public apology

Alsina makes a public apology to BET 106 & Park’s Keshia Chante, for his outburst and rudeness to her when she asked him a sensitive question about his beef with  Trey Songz.

I wasn’t mean. Here’s the thing. People get honesty and mean mixed up nowadays. You can say that now that I didn’t have to curse at her, but if you put me in a position. That’s how I felt. I went back to BET yesterday and that’s exactly what I said. Keshia was like, ‘I didn’t mean to disrespect you’ and I was like, ‘Well it wasn’t my intention to disrespect you.’ Before this conversation, I felt how I felt and I spoke on how I felt and I don’t take back nothing that I said.

I think sometimes people can be set up and people are just, quote unquote, doing their job…I speak from my heart, I got a big f-ckin’ mouth. It just is what it is. I don’t know how to change that, but in our reality, what I said was never about me trying to belittle the next n-gga or cause a problem with the next n-gga. It’s just, ‘This is how I feel.’ And I’m the idiot because I said what I said.

I beg your forgiveness, too, for the sins of omission on the part of Church leaders who did not respond adequately to reports of abuse made by family members, as well as by abuse victims themselves. This led to even greater suffering on the part of those who were abused and it endangered other minors who were at risk.

I was wrong to not deal with the sexual assault charges against Cosby and pursue them more aggressively.

Anyone that truly knows me, knows my heart and knows what I meant.
