Woodley to place $1000 bet on McGregor to beat Mayweather

Places bet0 Comments

Woodley says he is going to put $1000 on McGregor to beat Mayweather.

To be honest, me and Conor ain’t really seen eye to eye on a lot of things. In the end I still really want to scrap him. But I’m betting on Conor [Because] I bet a grand, I win 6500 bucks. I bet two grand, get 13 grand. This is freaking combat sports, anybody got a chance. So I’m willing to lose for the chance to win… I don’t think he’s gonna win, but if he prove me wrong then I, at least, want to cash in on it.

92% of Irish bets are for McGregor to win

Places bet0 Comments

PaddyPower reports that 92 per cent of bets that have been placed in Ireland on the McGregor-Mayweather fight have been for McGregor to win. The unexpected support at the bookies has prompted Paddy Power to cut McGregor’s outsider odds from 13/2 to 4/1 in recent days:

Given the nature of the betting, we’d be left more battered and bruised than any of the Dubliner’s previous opponents should he upset the odds.

Bookies are also offering bets on whether Sinead O’Connor’s will sing The Foggy Dew (5-2) and whether McGregor will do the Billionaire Strut (1-2), if Mayweather will win in a first round KO (33-1), McGregor will be disqualified for kicking (10-1), and whether his next fight is with a bear (100-1), Hulk Hogan (500-1) or UFC lightweight title rivals Khabib Nurmagomedov (6-4) or Tony Ferguson (6-1).

McGregor-Mayweather betting to surpass Superbowl

Places bet0 Comments

A sports book manager at Bovada.lv says the McGregor-Mayweather fight is trending to surpass the money laid down on this year’s Superbowl. McGregor’s odds to win have halved since the fight was announced, though Mayweather still remains the bookie’s favourite.

We knew this fight would be big, potentially even bigger than the Super Bowl, but now we are almost certain it will be. The recent trash talking and promotional tour is only encouraging bets and at this rate we cannot even imagine how much we will take on it. One thing is for sure though, we will need Mayweather huge. A McGregor early round KO as he promised would be a potential disaster and is partly a reason we are giving a great price on Mayweather at the moment.

Nevada punter places $150K for McGregor to beat Mayweather

Places bet0 Comments

Bookmakers are reporting large bets coming in for McGregor, which are improving his odds. For example, a Nevada bet was placed for $150,000 for McGregor to win. McGregor is now running at a low of +375 while Mayweather’s favorite status has dipped to -550 (84% win probability). When odds opened for the fight, Mayweather was widely available as a -2250 favorite, which implies a win probability of 96 percent over +950 underdog McGregor. At those initial lines, a $100 winning bet on Mayweather would receive a $4.44 payoff; a $100 bet on McGregor, meanwhile, would have a payoff of $950. Reports indicate that many bets in McGregor’s favor are being placed by casual betters:

At Caesars Palace sportsbooks, 140 of the first 144 bets were on McGregor, who was paying back around 5-1. Almost all of the early action was small and placed by recreational bettors. One sportsbook manager described it as ‘square-a-palooza.’

Mayweather tried to place £310,000 bet on McGregor fight but walked away after being made to wait

Places bet0 Comments

According to ESPN, Mayweather approached a sports betting vendor in Las Vegas around 3.30pm – just hours before the main event – and tried to stake around £310,000 on the fight ending inside 9.5 rounds. The odds were 1/2, meaning he would have make a £155,000 profit, but the bet was not placed. Concerns over the legality of a fighter betting on anything other than a straight win reportedly caused a delay. He then tried to bet on himself to win by knockout but was again frustrated by the delay and left without staking any money. Source:
